i drink about 6litres of water on weekdays and aonly 1litre of water on weekends.

office nothing to do, keep drinking and drinking.

weekends are time for fun and i dont really bother to get myself some water.

dont feel thirsty anyway.

my collegue says if i will kena water retention and still look bloated.

cause from 6litres of water suddenly down to 1 litre(or less) the body will keep storing and storing excess water.

but 2 days only enough for water rentention to occur meh?

anyway, i minimize my salt intake also.

never liked salt but i love pepper.

and i got my ang ang.

my bf said i gained a visible amount of weight.

i dont know is because of the ang ang or because i ate something wrong.

Don't drink water unless u feel thirsty. The "8 glasses a day standard medical advise" is nonsense. Too much water intake makes u feel full and there is less space for nutritious food. Too much water leaks valuable electrolytes from the system.

In fact, for most of humanity, our ancestors never drank water. Clean water was not easy to be found and was only available to certain high mountain tribes. River water is full of pathogens. Our ancestors drank tea or diluted wine. "Pure" water as found in most homes, will cause diffusion of minerals to be lost from the body.

In fact, I haven't drunk a single glass of plain water in maybe 6 months LOL. I usually drink tea, coffee or whisky. I've quit beer yayy lol

my pee is usually light yellow.

If u pee white colour, that means your body already leached clean of minerals and electrolytes already LOL (nolah, not totally gone, but maybe halfway there? hehe)

I've been peeing light yellow urine for years already, and i only like fall sick once a year?

As long as u r hydrated, can already. Colour of pee is not very impt, unless it's very very dark, maybe got blood. If light yellow, it's ok wan. As long as u don't feel faint, lips are moist and luscious (not lipstick or lip gloss LOL), skin is supple and radiant, hair is shiny and strong, got no bad breath or mucus forming on tongue, why drink more water than your body needs?

oh..

aiya.. my pee is near transparent liao.

almost no color.

only weekends my pee turns into yellowish color.

i dont eat breakie.

so my first meal is lunch.

morning i drink about 2litres of water.

by lunchie, slightly hungry only.

dinner time is when i get very hungry.

usually between meals i not hungry one.

only when i smell bread....

water helps to improve complexion?

not really leh i feel. maybe abit only.

but i still get pimples when i pms.

wah u drink 2 litres of water before your first meal? That might dilute your stomach acids, interfering with absorbtion. U work outdoors or sweat alot? Or else there's no real need to drink so much water. Soup, food, all contain water.

Complexion (our skin) is one of the key indicators of health. Of course, when a person is dehydrated, the skin suffers. But if a person is normally well hydrated, drinking more water won't make the person's skin look like a movie star's LOL

I haven't had a pimple in the last 15 years hehe

read before that sometimes the body craves water and some humans mistake the craving for water as hunger pangs.

so i just drink as much as i can lol....

but it's true that the hunger pangs/cravings have lessened after i increase my water intake.

no leh.. not really sweating alot.

just kena brain washed that drinking water can lose weight faster.

so it's fake too?

what kind of advice have i been following manzzz.

I read about this too, but i cannot understand, because to me, hunger and thirst are such totally different feelings!

Maybe i don't drink much water because i hardly pee too. Usually on a daily basis i only pee twice a day. I shite alot though, usually twice a day LOL

Maybe the large amount of food i eat has reduced my need for drinks. Depending on type of food, water is usually quite high (as in all living things). Apparently meat is around 30% water, depending on the part. Vegetables and fruits are more than 50%, depending on type, i've heard as high as 70%. Carbo even worse, u need 2 to 3 times the amount of water as the matter itself to cook.

So pound for pound, animal products are better, the rest, u r just paying money for water HAHAHA!!!

i can tell the diff but i never ever feel thirsty even if i dont drink water.

but i get hungry rather easily. like tummy growling type of hungwee.

ever since i increase water intake drastically, i've been eating less too.

it makes it alot easier to avoid carbs.

i've been shiitting less!

i s--t like once every 2 days.

last time i shiit everyday one.

and my shiit same as yours, quite small and floaty type one.

it's amost like large pelletsv compared to the big heavy ones i used to shiit.

ok. gonna puke. hahaha.

Update:

Lost about 1.5kg since I started on this diet 3 weeks ago. My wife lost about 2kg. We are both slim to begin with.

Shitting is still a problem for me. Stools are hard and I get blood cos it its difficult to pass out. My wife got no problem but she eats more fruits than me. Probably 200gm of strawberry/blueberry every other day.

Physical outlook:

Dun really work out but my six packs coming back. This is great.

Body temperature is higher. Me and my wife both complain about it. She starts to perspire at nite when sleeping. Never happen in the past.

Food intake:

I think it is more like 50% protein, 40% Fats and 10% others(can be carbs/sugar).

Thinking Aloud:

I think I may up my Carbs to about 20%. This will enable me to enjoy more variety of food and have choices when it comes to seasoning and snacks. Afterall if one is to adopt this diet permanently, you have got to enjoy the food avail. If not, very difficult to sustain.

Do you guys think about 20% carbs diet still acceptable? Then at least I can still enjoy a beer once a while............

I also same as you. Can't eat too much in one seating. My normal portion is the average guy's portion of a meal. But I snack in between meals.

My water content averages 62% to 63% daily on my home scale. Readings confirmed using another scale but different brand. No wonder my stomach round round. All full of water inside. [laugh] I drink around 2l of plain water per day + 2/3 glasses of other beverages eg coffee, milk.

Wah...and I thought my water content was high...hahah

I think around 3L or more per daily but don't think I've hit 6L yet...hahah

And I perspire very easily cos I am like a water baby - my mom threw me into the pool as soon as I could walk and I try to swim daily if I can

As with all things, moderation is probably the key blah

Here is Dr Kurt Harris' article again:

http://www.paleonu.com/panu-weblog/2009/11...e-kitavans.html

Kitavans eating yams and fish and smoking cigarettes and Tarahumara drinking beer and running on sandals made from old tires! Awesome!

Hell, there is some serious neo-rousseauism going on here. These noble savages have got it wired and all of our medical science about nutrition must always take account of those paragons of righteous living.

Lindeberg notwithstanding, we don't really know squat about the Kitavans. The runners in the study I just quoted had no clinical history whatsoever of clinically evident heart attacks. Instead, 12% had evidence of silent infacts on an MRI.

We have no idea how many of the Kitavans have coronary calcium or silent infarcts by MRI. No idea at all. They certainly seem to tolerate the carbs well with little fructose and no wheat and no linoleic acid. Great! Maybe they have zero coronary calcium and no one there has ever had an infarct. We just do not know. If Lindeberg wants to fly them all to my clinic in wisconsin I will do a calcium score on the first one thousand of them no charge. Seriously.

Show me the money. Show me proof they have less atherosclerosis and they have no silent ischemia. Prove they are not just ethnographic confirmation bias for those who think "paleo carbs" must be OK because we really, really want them to be.

The Kitavans tolerate a higher carb fraction than you might expect.

SO WHAT?

What does that tell us about whether we should eat non -fructose and wheat containing carbs intead of animal products. It tells us absolutely nothing at all about that choice. Zero.

Just like their apparant tolerance of smoking tells us absolutely nothing about whether it is good to smoke. It only confirms that smoking on the SAD is much worse. That is very interesting, but hardly an endorsement for smoking, is it?

This is just a giant, gaping blind spot in the paleo diet world - It is, philosophically, blind empricism. Perseverating on an observation without coherent interpretation.

Let's say that fructose, excess carbs in general, wheat and linoeic acid are all equally contributing to ill health. Wheat is probably the worst, or maybe corn oil, but lets just say...

Don't you suppose we could find any number of populations, that, lacking the negative synergy of having all of them in the diet, get away with having just one element?

I can think of many examples, but I'll let you do the exercise.

Fine is not better. Tolerated is not optimal.

If you have the choice, why choose corn or potatoes over meat?

I have the choice as I am not forced to live in a paleo neo-rousseauist fantasy world. I have central heat and can choose what I eat. Instead of letting it kill me, I choose to exploit our artifical late post-industrial food abundance to my advantage, even if stuffing myself with nothing but tasty animals was a privilege unavailable to some of my unlucky paleo anscestors who had to stoop to starchy plants.

Because we have evolved to tolerate getting some portion of our calories from sources that are nothing but fuel (a good thing in times of scarcity, I should say) does not oblige us to do so, does it?

I honestly believe with good nutrition, a moderate amount of tobacco and acohol is also tolerable.

Does that mean it is better to do it than not?

I will always put biomedical science before ethnography.

My reading of biomedical science tells me once you have enough protien, animal fat is healthier than any grain or potato. It definitely tastes better. If you prefer to practice a regime of artificial scarcity or save money, go ahead.

But this is an advocacy site. I do not advocate substitution of corn or yams for pastured butter unless you are short money or your child is hungry.

Between the Zero carbers and the Kitavan cult, I feel a bit squeezed.

Over and over I say that the 10- 30% range for carbs sounds reasonable for most people.

Prove to me that 60% is better than 30%. Or at least make the argument. I would do it for you if I could, but I cannot even imagine how it would be constructed. Otherwise please stop perseverating on the Kitavans until a study comes out with something new.

I only see this line .................

I honestly believe with good nutrition, a moderate amount of tobacco and acohol is also tolerable.

[:)]

Seriously, with a margin of 20% for carbs, life is so much easier ................. esp for those who take their meals outside.
