Skunk Clutched April 18, 2010 Share April 18, 2010 http://health.msn.com/weight-loss/articlep...entid=100256851 Once again, more evidence that counting calories is useless, and in this case, is found that will make u fatter!! I think for a reasonably active male, to eat less than 2500 calories a day is just too little, surely will feel weakness. Can't wait to eat my lamb chops tonight mmmm....hehe ↡ Advertisement
Chickenbackside 1st Gear April 18, 2010 Share April 18, 2010 (edited) This has certainly been my own experience. I eat much more than I ever have in my life, and yet, I lost >30kg and have zero problems maintaining my current weight despite eating like this. I put what I ate yesterday (quite typical) into Fitday, and this is what I got: Edited April 18, 2010 by Chickenbackside
Skunk Clutched April 18, 2010 Share April 18, 2010 I got nothing to say. 5000 calories!!! I usually eat nearly 3000 calories, and i think it's a hell lot already. U da man!! No wonder u don't have energy issues, like me and Topgun.
Chickenbackside 1st Gear April 18, 2010 Share April 18, 2010 (edited) In terms of calories, it may seem a lot, but if you asked me, I could have easily eaten more. And some days I do. I dunno where the calories go man. Impossible to burn that much even taking into account my exercise. But one thing's for sure, compared with my fat days, I feel a whole lot hotter and break into sweat very easily. Skunk Clutched April 18, 2010 Share April 18, 2010 I dunno where the calories go man. Impossible to burn that much even taking into account my exercise. I know where they went. They went into floating battleships inside your toilet bowl LOL And yes, exercise is good, but absolutely useless if one is using it as weight-control mechanism. Without a good diet, exercise might just make a person grow fatter LOL

Bro CBS, Do you actively make an effort to achieve a certain percentage for saturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats? If you do, what are your target perecntages? I am just mixing lots of fish oil and fats from meat like pork and beef. Dun really have the time to go into exact percentages. Sometimes I take coconut oil and nuts but no more than once or twice a week. Still taking lots of vege and some fruits cos it helps in my bowel movements. Topgun Neutral Newbie April 18, 2010 Share April 18, 2010 I got nothing to say. 5000 calories!!! I usually eat nearly 3000 calories, and i think it's a hell lot already. U da man!! No wonder u don't have energy issues, like me and Topgun. My guesstimate is 2,300 to 2,500 cal per day for me. Again, last night, my wife criticised me again. Told me that I'm mad. She said I looked very gaunt, pointed to my thighs and legs and say, "skin wrapping bones" in cantonese. But she's so biased, yes, it's true I loss some of my muscles mass as the fats and the weight went down. She also said my shoulders have shrank like I'm always shrugging my shoulder. I don't know, but I looked at myself critically in the mirror, and yes, I lost some muscles mass, that's true. My thighs and legs have slimmed down, but they actually looked more defined and has veins showing. Definitely the spare tire, the slab of fat in the kidney back area is gone. I look and feel better, so why is my wife giving me the stick? I thought she should be proude that I'm disciplined, and I achieved my objectives that I set for my physical well being. What's left for me now is to go and do a medical and my urine, blood tests. Now, I've my reservations again, what can I tell her when my blood tests will show high cholesterol (LDL), and if the doctor says, this is bad bad bad. And the doctor doesn't know how to interprete the cholesterol readings?
Skunk Clutched April 18, 2010 Share April 18, 2010 Still taking lots of vege and some fruits cos it helps in my bowel movements. Fibre takes up valuable space better used for more nutritious food. Fibre has zero nutritional value. It's as good as eating your floor rug LOL. In fact, lots of vege will probably make bowel movements worse http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/...50111122655.htm even if it helps, fibre's effects on bowel movements are over-rated. From my own experience as a huge salad cruncher in the past, and now a near total carnivore, is that fibre actually makes pooping worse, at least for me. I wonder why i believed in fibre so much in the past LOL If u ate the floor rug, versus eating a piece of lard, which one would be easier to pass out? From what i see, there's only 1 good reason for eating plant material, and it's they're good to eat LOL nutritionally, they're no fight for animal products. For the last 1.5 months, i've eaten almost zero plant products, and my poop and general health has never been better :)

Yes, I definitely make a conscious effort to ensure my macronutrient ratios are around 70% fat, 20% protein and 10% carbs. As you can see from my Fitday charts, it's pretty close. It was difficult at first. I always ate too much protein and foo little fat, especially when the only dairy I eat now is butter. Coconut milk/cream/oil and butter are definitely the most useful tools in helping me get enough fat in. I eat veges and fruits (berries only) mainly for taste and an easy and convenient source of micronutrients only. Even if I don't eat a single plant food for days, my bowel movements are unaffected. In fact, I find my stools come out easier without plants in my diet. Soft and nice. Floaty too.

And the doctor doesn't know how to interprete the cholesterol readings? Yes, it's an uphill battle isn't it? Sometimes it seems like giving up and eating like everyone else just makes life so much easier. If you want to put on muscle mass, you simply have to exercise in a way that forces your body to grow muscles. The past few months I have put on around 5kg of muscles, and the visual difference is huge. But the exercise needed for the growth is not easy. Sometimes it's downright painful. Otherwise, you are no less healthy even in your "gaunt" state. People just need to get used to how you're SUPPOSED to look and not judge you from your unhealthy weight look. At the end of the day, it is important to get your family's support. Otherwise, life is going to be very difficult. Convincing them that this is the way we're supposed to eat is damn bloody difficult. I know, I've been through it.

It's never a prob with small amounts, it's large amounts of anything that's not right.

I've emailed/forwarded my wife (most) all the articles and links but she's just not bothered to read partly cos she's mighty busy with work and also partly she's got a pretty closed mind (she's very conservative, mainstream - hate to say it, sometimes I wonder how we got together and stayed together ) and I think it's an uphill task when all these studies and research are obscured still by mainstream health, pharma, nutritional and clinical authorities on the healthy carbs - bad fats theories. She's just brushed everything off and say how can fats be good, how high cholesterol results in thickening of arteries, hypertension, high bp, heart diseases, stroke, and cancer. Food deepfried in lard, gheee, bah! I think I just got to keep trying to convince her slowly to see the light I was hoping to at least when she sees the physical results of my body transformation, at least it'd appeal to her sense of vanity and she'd at least cut down some carbs during family meals to start herself and our kids on the journey to a healthier life. I just got to try harder

Topgun Neutral Newbie April 18, 2010 Share April 18, 2010 BTW, I think I mentioned before, my wife is one of those lucky ones, high metabolic rate, can eat anything, healthy appetite ones, don't put on weight type And my 3 kids are all fit and slim type, very active in sports in school. I'm the only with the spare tyre. Now no more ↡ Advertisement
