On the topic of yogurts, went to cold storage recently to find some good ones. Yeah noticed this farmers union greek style but i checked the contents label there's considerable carbs + sugar so decided to hold back in buying first. Is that okay? Also saw this brand call FAGE or something like that iirc, also greek style but no mention of carbs and sugars in the label. Hmm reckon?

You can assume it's similar...

Ah i love my sambal stingrays as well. Usually mum will put in the oven let it cook and pour the sambal over after that, yum yum! It's the only few type of fishes i eat other than tuna and sardines (i am terrified of fishy smell) [laugh]

I see. Which of the 2 brands would you recommend? Is farmers union suitable for this diet?

TIA!

Now that I have found whole milk yoghurt, I would have to recommend that.

Only thing is you have to make the effort to go to Carrefour to get it.

If you're asking between Fage and Farmers Union, just get anyone.

Remember, use yoghurt in moderation. Don't go crazy on it.

Go crazy on things like butter, coconut oil, grassfed ribeye, salmon...etc.

A dash of salt plus some herbs better?

Do you guys air dry the CBS or let it dry in the fridge.

Do you normally let the meat taken from the fridge cool down to "air temperature" before you BBQ or steam them?

Banana leaf should not be burnt hor, that is heat too high or

Overcook liow. I prefer to steam with the leave on then grill,

The fish still retains it's moisture and is still juicy. Sambal if bought off the shelves, got MSG and other crap inside. I make my own with no baldachan added. Salt and other stuff, being processed. Yeah, gone are the days when it's done under the sun, now all made in factories.

but the burnt banana leaf with samba taste better........ [cool]

quick question... can we eat lots of mayo ? since it contains high fat n limited carbs.

I am getting a little confuse here. This form of diet or lifestyle, isnt this the atkins diet? no carbs... of course the difference is that the panu way seems to encourage eating fats... hmm

Well my weight is slowly trickling off.. so whatever it is , panu works. I just want to make the eating part more sustainable. cos will get sick of eating roast pork everytime I'm out. [knife]

Yes if you made it yourself...

Here's the recipe I got off the net

Ingredients:

2 egg yolks

3/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon powdered mustard

1/8 teaspoon sugar

Pinch cayenne pepper

4 to 5 teaspoons lemon juice or white vinegar

1-1/2 cups olive or other salad oil

4 teaspoons hot water

So if I assume that commercially made mayos follow a similar recipe, then there's sugar, which is a big no no [laugh]

From Wiki

"Homemade mayonnaise can approach 85% fat before the emulsion breaks down; commercial mayonnaises are more typically 70-80% fat. "Low fat" mayonnaise products contain starches, cellulose gel, or other ingredients to simulate the texture of real mayonnaise."

So again, the low-fat stuff is damn bad for us!

Anyway, you answered your own question - it's not Atkins because the focus is slightly different

Mayo is fine ONLY if you make it yourself. Read the label of any mayo that is available outside and you will see plenty of rubbish like hydrogenated vegetable oil, sugar, high fructose corn syrup...etc.

Not exactly Atkins, but based off the same biochemistry principles. Atkins does not place emphasis on the quality of food. For eg, diet soda is ok on Atkins, not here. Feedlot beef is ok on Atkins, not here.

Yup, fat is the only macronutrient that does not cause an insulin response. Go look it up in a biochemistry textbook. Your doctor doesn't know this cos he is not a biochemist, he is a person who is trained to use medication to treat symptoms. This is a high fat (good fat only), moderate protein, low carb way of eating.

For health's sake, you shouldn't be eating out most of the time. But for eating out ideas, there have been plenty of discussion already. Just go through the thread.

The lifestyle works simply cos it is based on biochemistry. Things that scientists have known for more than 100 years but somehow got lost after WW2 with the advent of industrialization.

I wished to have home cooked food too but My wife doesnt cook at all and I suck at it too. [laugh]

The other day, went to the supermarket to buy grill pan, anchor butter, ayam coconut cream, beef, bacon, pork belly, brocolli etc.

Then I cook, or tried too. What I did was funny. Fire up the pan, put anchor butter and the beef(without any seasoning/tenderizer). Result. Taste like s--t.haha bland.Btw, I bought the grass fed beef. $24.90 per 100 gram. Ex man.

Maybe I am too used to sauces, chili, ketchep, steak sauce etc, but since all these cannot be used, lan lan force down the tasteless meat.

Clearly unhappy with my lunch, open a can of ayam coconut cream... Hmm the taste is so good. Like eating Chendol ma I said to myself. Hmm maybe I can do this after all. BUT NO,cos after a couple of hours later, I felt terrible. I guess its due to indigestion of the coconut cream..i felt sickly.

For dinner, didnt dare to cook until i seek some help from chef friends... haha. Went to the food court to order roast pork and bah kut teh soup. Happy !!

Conclusion,

IMO, this new lifestyle will be pretty difficult to follow unless one knows or have people to cook for them. If like me n wife, constantly eat out, very difficult. In addition, where to find so many good meat out there? I mean commercially is just not viable. Imagine the food court western food stall selling grassfed beef for say $35, whose gonna eat it? .... I can't be eating at Mortons,Angus all the time right?

Was wondering, since I am a soupy person, maybe I can just dump in the meat and low crab vegs plus add in fried lard(to bump up the fat content)

U think thats workable ? Easy to cook, minimal cleaning required.. [:p]
