Whichever allows him to eat less.

My point is, eat real whole foods in a manner that allows you to eat less permanently is the way you should eat.

So you are saying that if a high protein and low fat & carb diet can satisfy you, it will be the same as taking high fat and low protein/ carb.

I'm just concern abt eating predominantly fats as the main source of food... Also, with a low protein and zero carb diet, won;t my body catabolize my lean muscles?

I'm still not very knowledgeable in this area... reading up the old posts, but now only at page 100// [laugh]

I'm saying that it doesn't really matter as long as the food is of high quality and unprocessed. Especially if you are not a morbidly obese person trying to lose a huge amount of weight like myself.

As long as you are reasonably healthy, your body will be able to handle a wide range of macro nutrient ratios. You don't need to eat a low protein diet if you don't want to. A moderate protein diet is totally fine. Your body won't just waste away muscle so easily. Protein requirements aren't that big.

If you read Brad Pilon's book "How Much Protein", which examines almost every protein study ever done, the general conclusion is that your body only ever needs 70-120g per day to GROW if you train regularly. Maintenance is likely lesser than that. He even mentioned that according to data, creatine is much more useful than protein in terms of building muscle.

There are very healthy indigenous cultures that are largely disease free, and their macronutrient ratios vary widely. From mostly carbs (Kitavans) to mostly fat (Inuit). The common trait is simply: real, whole food.

When you eat real whole food, your appetite will self regulate.

But the world is so removed from real whole food nowadays that it is conceptually difficult to even picture the nuts and bolts of such a diet. It means no more bread, no more pasta, no more noodles, no more soft drinks, no more cookies, no more pizza, no more pineapple tarts, no more anything cooked in vegetable oil (which takes out almost all hawker food, KFC, Macdonald's...).

You will then realise that quality comes with a price. That restaurants that I can order almost anything from the menu are usually very expensive. The chefs naturally choose grass fed beef, serve organ meats, cook with butter/ghee...etc.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, no need to focus on macronutrient ratios if you don't have a massive amount of weight to lose. Focus instead on food quality. You can read all about food quality throughout this thread.

If you have a massive amount of weight to lose like I did, high fat, low carb and moderate protein is a very powerful tool to employ.

Of course I eat greens! I eat more greens than vegans!

Centre: avacado

Bottom right: pork/chicken bone broth with carrot and daikon

Yes, I cook my own steaks. I only buy grass fed beef.

hi

just read all of the posts till the last page. took about 2 weeks as i only read during break time in the office.

i actually started the lifestyle change o the 10th apr so about 3 weeks so far.

was 97kg now abt 92-93 kg.

For me the greatest challenge was to cut out my coke zero and probably my Secret Recipe cakes!!

Another challenge was the meals. the best so far i have done is cooking steak. no rendang curry chicken etc stuff yet.

One more problem was that i cant eat too much at one go, though i am 1.85m and people called me "big guy" last time.. it is like 1 steak ,some butter , 3 teaspoon of coconut cream and i am very full liao.

I remembered the first time i ate the coconut cream. wow taste like coconut ice cream siah so ate 5 or 6 spoonful. then got nauseous and vomitted and lau sai twice! i learnt not to eat to fast next time....

Within a week i cant feel my thighs brushing against each other anymore even if i tried very hard, my butt seemed and felt slimmer , my stomach smaller , face thinner etc...

i dont have any health problems yet so this lifestyle change will be like a preemptive measure. but i have talked about this diet with my mum with diabetes and thankfully she is willing to try...

the thing is the cooking part , still trying but struggling since primal diet food needs extra care .

My 11yo son is also showing signs of gaining too much weight liao. used to be nightly instant noodles without my knowledge as he asked the maid to cook for him. now no more noodles for him at night.

hope this thread will continue to inspire and give another person with weight and health problems a chance to discover something that may give them a new life new image new beginning....

high fat moderate proteins Zero carbs ( well impossible to be 0 but nice to be as near as possible)

hey bros... I'd fallen off the bandwagon and am coming back

Was 83, dropped to 69 in 2011....

Back to 82.9kg 3 weeks back, and since resuming the diet, have lost about 5kg. Pants becoming looser.

Hope to stick on for much much longer this time round. Are all the bros here still keeping to this diet?

So far, yes. And I've taken some carbs mainly in the form of beer, ever since I changed job from a sedentary white collar job to a manual blue collar job....but still, 90% of what I put in my mouth has zero carbs, so I'm still slim :p

Yup, still eating the same, and pants still at size 29/30 (from 42).

Now exercise less cos very busy, but don't seem to have lost muscle although I have lost some strength (not too much). Friends still disturb me and call me "Mr Manhunt".

Eat real food, sleep well, stress less, get some sun, exercise intensely for a short duration... Simple formula.
