All thanks to VW pumping money in to revive the brand.... it took them 10yrs starting from the redesign A6..... then they started putting in VW generic engine and drive trains into beautifully designed cars and sell for a premium. THey are still using the same formula for the mass cars..... which I think gives the buyer a false impression of owning an Audi. It is actually half engineered by VW....

 

Anyway.. it is still nice cars produce by Audi... I like them too.

Anyway, Audis are front wheel driven except for the quattro versions. They're more about looks, style, interior & exterior fit & finish rather than outright performance. So IMHO, they're boring!

I concur with your sentiment....a lot of these brands get killed when they come to Asia. Why? I really dunno...but to market Audi cars at such a premium is to me a crime. Of course there are people with a lot of $$ to burn, but those who can afford it will probably elect to burn their money elsewhere....Audi is very much a middle income brand....the premium canot be justified. I almost boght the Q5...the drive is fantastic, but they refused to budge on price or any other considerations so I walked a few doors down and bought myself another "well insulated/rebadged" Toyota.

 

I am a secure person and don't need a brand to define me. Lexus it is. All the creature comforts and a willing engine...yes some people argue there's no feel. But I LIKE! The price I pay the things I get for it...no brainer. And it can be driven hard! I'll attest to it. After having owned 2 ...I think I'm probably be a Lexus for life fan. But that's not the point I reckon. The car (Audi) is sound. The looks could be tad conservative but it's ok ..I don't mind it. Price is perhaps the biggest disparity here.

 

 

I congratulate you on your choice Lexus is indeed a premier brand capable of taking on the luxury German and British marques. The Lexus cars are well-refined, quiet and nice to drive. I cannot fault them for point A to B comfort and relaibility. I almost nearly bought a RX 300 many years ago but decided to settle for a Volvo XC90. And I'm afraid that was one decision I truly regretted Well, my life-long learning about cars never ends. In retrospect, if I hadn't bought the XC90, then I wouldn't have known that underneath that robust looking body was just a heap of metal, often not screwed properly together and using parts from the Mitsubishi bin.
