from yr vid, i can see the lexus already tapping his brake, i don't understand why the forester still speed up & reduce the gap (observed after he passed the van on extreme left).

i can only deduced that the driver jammed brake (1) when his attempt to filter into yr lane failed cos of the ah pek (observed his vehicle moving to right side) (2) he didn't realized that he is pretty close to the lexus

Not too sure if the lexus was tapping brake or flashing headlights initially. You could see that even though the tail lights of the lexus were flashing, the distance between it and the Forester remained. I couldn't tell it visibly slowing down until the last part where the brake lights were on continuously. So i believe he was flashing his headlights initially. Like i said, i think he didn't expect the Ah Pek to still cross the road nonchalantly.

For the Forester, i don't think it was him speeding up, but rather the lexus decelerating rapidly, giving the impression of the rear vehicle closing the gap. Why i say that? The distance between me and the Forester didn't change.

I think the cam is about the same quality as my $170 one, ($200, if you include installation). [:p]

care to share where you got your cam installed.

i think $300 is too expensive... [:p]

wah.. i see the uncle cross like that very scary leh.. i don't think it's his timing good.. it's more like the cars were forced to slow down to accommodate him!

Old man...sometimes they may not know what are they doing!

Aiyo, this type of jay-walking very common in older estate. You go to Redhill or Balestial Rd, many old folks dont even turn their head to check for coming traffic.

The fense along upper thomson were erected recently, so now they have to jay cross through where the opening is, just be careful lor.

Agree lor. His survival that day was only because 1) the lexus could brake in time and 2) the forester did not swerve into lane 1 to avoid the lexus. Either scenario and the old man will be gone. I'm just thankful that the old man is ok. But the manner in which he crosses the road, i dunno how long more he will stay ok.

Exactly. This fella didn't even look. Just walk right across the road like the biblical mosses parting the red sea like tat, putting his fate into the attentiveness and reaction of drivers. Well, with the huge number of "L" plate drivers learning without the putting on the "L" plate nowadays, let's hope the old man had done many good deeds in the past and is now supposed to be reaping only good karma. I think this is more of a case of social responsibility which concentrates on the aspects of road awareness and road hazard education.

It is not just the authorities' responsibility but everyone else.

Someone needs to go "counsel" the ah peh la. [laugh]

those PRC isit [laugh]

She think she pay road tax and thus entitled to drive her own car this way. Some people have this sick mentality. [laugh]

Next time, don't bother looking at such people. You have a beautiful day to look forward to. Just ignore and move on.

Should just fence up the whole divider.

If you notice the stretch, they did fence up. But how do you fence up the area where the cars need to make a turn or U turn? Defeats the purpose actually..
