weird, so many 'gifted' people in a single church or denomination and some have none...

 

errr... not "many"... but it is the WHOLE church. That's why they feel they are "up there" while the rest of the other denominations are "down there"

 

also, if they are real as what the church goers claim, then i really pity the holy spirit cos he has got to drop by CHC every week to bless them with the gift. Jin bo eng

Holy Spirit is suppose to be everywhere wor. afterall its writen when 2 or more gather in his name, he is in the mist of us mah.

 

anyway i dont think they really think speaking in tongue is very atas, its suppose to be the most common of gift that Apostle paul desire that everyone have them.

 

err.. also its should be people with 'gift' not 'gifted' ppl. very different meaning.

hahaha... it was scary when you have thousands of people speaking in tongues... machiam like all kenna possessed leh.

You mention verse 27~28 but fail to mention Verse 2

For Anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, he utters mysteries with his spirit.

 

so u implying verse 2 contradicts verses 27-28?

 

it's exactly when speaking in tongues that no man but God can understand,

that verses 27-28 guides us how best to utilize that gift.

 

it's not useful in a church-setting for everyone to speak in tongues,

as it only benefits only those speakers individually and no one else,

especially not non-believers.

 

therefore, someone should interpret (if there is anyone so gifted),

otherwise, they should just shut up in church.

 

the above is assuming the speaking in tongues is real,

ie. by the Holy Spirit, and not everyone deciding to just utter yabba dabba doos.

Has any one heard anyone speaking in tongues in other denominations (or churches ) before?

RC, Methodist for eg.

There are RCs and Methodist churches that have speaking in tongues.

Okay get what you mean. your initial post was not that clear.

BTW i am not saying Verse 2 contridice 27~28. rather by lifting only part of the whole passage, will not create the complete picture very much like the cheap grace gospel.

For me, i think it depend on what they are doing, if they are praying then no comment. but if for no realm or reason the whole congre speak in tongues then i agree its very wired.

I don't think its correct to make classes who is in Upper house and who in Lower house here.

The Spiritual gifts by Holy Spirit is to edify and not to be glorified upon. Its not a Superman thingy.

Humans like Flashy Certs on our walls yah ? The more we have the Prouder we are - Pride is the 1st sin..

 

If someone thinks he is "closer" to God with these "gifts". then he is totally wrong.

 

It seems your version of Holy Spirit is V1.0. Ours are the Infinity Omnipotent version already - this is the final version and no patches and updates needed.

 

Pls go to a nice church to get an upgrade FOC.

I agree. I feel that the gift of tongue doe not come easily. And not certainly to a pastor who preaches prosperity (Yes, I'm totally against prosperity gospel in whatever form).

 

The charismatic and the Pentecost churches make it as if it comes easily just by mumbling some gibberish.

See our view are the same but pharse differently.

God rewards are not only monetary. but many others and to each different ppl, different things too as he deem fit.

 

 

i believe in Matt 6:33.

Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well

 

Do check the dictionary then.. Prosperity is about monetary or financial gain..

 

Do also read Matt 6 in it's entirety. The chapter is not about rewards..
