Very eager to get a iPad when it first launced in US, but when it arrives in Singapore and I have a test run on the demo set, I found it is EXACTLY the same as a iPhone except no phone feature and screen is much bigger. Not thinking of getting it after that.

Then I happen to see a little girl learning ABC, 123 from the iPad, it looks educational which I would like my child to get a hands-on too.

It looks like it's good for all the kids applications.

Now, there is this WiFi and WiFi+3G configurations that is bothering me. Which one should I get?

I remember seeing the carriers selling Micro SIM card for no-contract plan for 3G version. This plan has a life of 1 month with a capacity. Does it mean I can only use this plan for 1 month as long as I din finish the capacity?

Get a wifi version if your usage are mostly offline, also if you are using it mainly at home, then you have internet access all the time.

I bought one and I don't use it as often but my wife and kids love it ....Now typing this from library where there is wireless@sg!

Hope we dun pay for the data transfer charges when using WiFi as in iPhone.

think all this tech is confusing u alittle. There'll be no data charges when u r only using Wifi networks. basically u can log into the internet only when there is wireless networks, either wireless SG or at home or office with wireless signal.

if u get the 3G version, u have to get a sim card, this allows u to log into the internet virtually anywhere, as long as there's signal, u have to sign up for a data plan, which usually comes coupled with free data usage, n u pay for any excess u incure.

Where do you intend to use it most often?

If at home and you already have a wireless router, then get the WIFI one is good enuff as you can connect the ipad to the home internet access. No charges.

I got the wifi one, reason is, if travelling, then 3G would be useless, unless of local data sim. You could also use a mobile phone, say a HTC HD2 and put it as a wireless router and the iPad can connect to the phone and continue surfing when at places without wifi hotspot, of course you mobile phone must have a data plan.

The 32k is just a figute on your bill. Yiu have a max of 12 GB, so singtel is telling you if you do not have the plan, that will be the bill, but why do they want to put the figure down even though everyone else on a 12 GB plan, it probably for their tax purposes.

Anyway, when you carry you iPhone overseas, it will automatically shut off data tranfser unless you enabale data roaming.
