Dafansu Turbocharged September 5, 2010 Share September 5, 2010 There is nothing wrong with yr iPhone, StarHub just forget to activate yr Auto roamming in their system. i had called up and checked, they mentioned they had activated it. i also received an sms few days back that it has been activated. Furthermore when i check my account online, international roaming is stated inside. Maybe i will wait few more days to see if it works. Thanks for the advise. Blondeyes Neutral Newbie July 26, 2011 Share July 26, 2011 The best way is to use international sim.. Do not need to still use your Malaysia number while oversea, it will cost you a lot! With international sim, you can also activate data roaming.. and also make cheaper call back to Malaysia

Deckbuild 6th Gear April 12, 2013 Share April 12, 2013 Borrowing this thread: Anyone on Starhub using Conexus for data roaming? Do I just download this and thats all or I still have to call 1633?
ShepherdPie 5th Gear April 12, 2013 Share April 12, 2013 To me, a phone is a phone. I got the cheapest (free) touchscreen non-smart phone from Singtel with my cheap corporate contract. No data plan. Then I discovered it was extremely easy to connect out "accidentally" at the touch of a prominent button. Immediately, I just deleted all the gateway IP addresses from the phone's setting. This is a surefire solution. If I want to get it back, it's easy - the IP address follows a nice pattern - 165.21.42.84 (the latter 3 numbers are multiples of 21). But right now, I feel very secure knowing my phone can't "phone home" (or anywhere else for that matter) without my intervention. If I want to surf, I just bring a netbook and find a WiFi hotspot. Or use a USB dongle for which there's a fixed one time charge and no monthly charge or data usage cap. Phone is more than a phone now ... I forgot when was the last time i SMS liao.. Carpark 1st Gear April 12, 2015 Share April 12, 2015 (edited) Another classic example on my recent trip to Korea. Going to appeal to StarHub to waive it off as I did not consume those data. Edited April 12, 2015 by Carpark
Mcf777 Turbocharged April 12, 2015 Share April 12, 2015 Singhell already mentioned before that some of the apps in yr phone may trigger the data plan even though u did not turn on data plan. I make it a point to transfer my SimCard to a non.smart phone whenever I travel oversea. Buy local 3g or 4g card. Giving me a piece of mind when travelling.

Voodooman Supersonic April 13, 2015 Share April 13, 2015 I turn off 3g and data when overseas. Yeah, I do the same and never had to call my telco to waive overseas data charges since. Fail proof way, turn off data roaming and select 2G only service.

Fail proof way, turn off data roaming and select 2G only service. Yup. Me too. Never encounter any problems. Users just have to know their phones and turn off the function that consumes data.
Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic April 13, 2015 Share April 13, 2015 I turned on "Plane Mode" and all data connection switch off..... Can still make calls but no internet access so no worries of data auto download in other countries..
Carpark 1st Gear April 13, 2015 Share April 13, 2015 I turned off data roaming, but left mobile data on. Never once did I encounter such problems in my years of roaming until this Korea trip. Keep a tight check on my roaming usage, and throughout the entire trip it still registers as zero KB. Was surprised to see these charges being reflected on the bill $48 for 150KB of usage. ↡ Advertisement
