i suggest stick to the Fit first....

many new models coming out next year....

so just wait....

patience is key....

New models are coming out every day man but look at the COE now... How to afford a car? Really take my hat off to the current car buyers... Well they tell me that they will take their hats off to those who got their cars when the COE is like 90k...

Aiyo, stay focus on what you want. Consider the following first then narrow down on the car make and model.

1. Engine capacity - What's the maximum capacity you allowed.

2. Budget - Maximum amount you want to spend on a car.

3. Power - Is it important? Do you want to race with other more power cars? With your family in the car, you don't want to do that.

4. Fuel consumption - Consider that your family only travel with you mostly in the weekends so it should not be a problem.

5. Maintenance - Are the parts expensive? Are the servicing expensive? You don't need to go back to the agent for servicing if warranty already expire but it will enhance the value if you do.

6. Road Tax - Are your prepare to pay more road tax for slightly more luxury and power.

7. Insurance - It depends on the make and model you choose. PI and certain brands/models may be more expensive if the parts are not easily available.

8. Resale value - This would depend on the brand/model and whether it's an agent or PI car.

Cheers and happy hunting!

Bro, from the posts here, there is information overload. But since it's a big investment, more heads are better than one. [:p] [:p] [:p]

That's why I chose to post here... Lots of people with different views... I need to see if I have left out any factors before I jump in...

yah yah....

i figured that out too....

considering your Fit 07 can sell for over $50k now,

take away $20k,

left about $30k which can throw into your next car....

not bad nia....

Yup... Also considering if I were to delay for another year, the then car prices would be pushed up by these cars with higher COE... Then I would have to look for an even older car just to fit my budget or just get a lorry...

Honestly, if you buy this Stream at $70k, I will be very happy as my July 08 Stream with $14k COE will be worth about $67k.

Budget wise, if you let go of your Fit, you can pour $30k as down payment and loan $40k. Over 7y @2%, monthly is about $550. Just nice meeting your target.

But bare in mind, it has quite low COE. When it turns 5 year, the paper value is only $17.4k + COE $3.25k = $20.6k. If the body value is $10k at 5y, total value is only $30.6k.

Your 3 years depreciation is about $40k, which is staggering.

But if you drives up to scrap, then it will be $60k over 8 years. $7.5k per year. Not too bad.

Seems like, you don't have much choice but to go ahead to get a 7 seater for the safety of your family. Try to bargain the price to maybe $68k or less. Good luck.
