Honestly, if you buy this Stream at $70k, I will be very happy as my July 08 Stream with $14k COE will be worth about $67k.

Budget wise, if you let go of your Fit, you can pour $30k as down payment and loan $40k. Over 7y @2%, monthly is about $550. Just nice meeting your target.

But bare in mind, it has quite low COE. When it turns 5 year, the paper value is only $17.4k + COE $3.25k = $20.6k. If the body value is $10k at 5y, total value is only $30.6k.

Your 3 years depreciation is about $40k, which is staggering.

But if you drives up to scrap, then it will be $60k over 8 years. $7.5k per year. Not too bad.

Seems like, you don't have much choice but to go ahead to get a 7 seater for the safety of your family. Try to bargain the price to maybe $68k or less. Good luck.

That's if I can get hold of this owner... Called her about 3 times liao...

not the 2.0L version when there's the 1.6Turbo right???

[laugh]

when u buy 2nd hand it dont make a diff, except the road tax portion

2008 is a yr with high euro and low yen

buy a jap 2008 car is a dumb thing to do

let alone something with a tin can body, ridiculous 2 rear seats for shopping bags, no rear crumple zone, no crash bar, 2 airbags,

Seems like a good choice but it's just the road tax that's the hard part to digest... No doubt about the safety features in this car...

It fits my budget too but just the road tax portion...

the Stream's OMV that you're interested in is $21,748 = 100% ARF....

so parf value is 0.75 X ARF = $16,311....

COE Rebate = $6501 X 99months / 120mths = $5363....

paper value = $21,674....

factoring in $10k body value,

but she's selling at $70,800....

think about that!!

difference between 1.6L and 2.0L is quite a lot leah....

road tax ($385/6 months 1.6L, $620/6 months 2.0L)

insurance probably $500/yr difference,

petrol consumption,

maintenance too leah....
