I have a dilemma here..

I'm 28 yrs old. Married with a daughter 5 years old.

I'm earning around 3K per month and my wife ard 3.5k.

As Im nearing 30...i realised we do not have much savings..

Unacceptable...

Thus began moderating our expenses trying to save a portion of our pay.

Slowly seeing some progress..

Recently my In-laws' kept asking us to move over to their place and rent out our current flat..as they have 2 empty rooms

... then we can apply for BTO and collect rent in the mean time.

Now face this dilemma... in one end its a good way to save up for future as evey month can save up ard 2k more.

in the other end..don't know whats troubling me that feel that its not good idea..some how like lost of privacy.., freedom and

the feeling of losing a shelter which is my own..

I have no problems with my In-Laws..in fact they treat me better then my own parents treat me..(i used to stay with them for

2 years before I married my wife)..just have this feeling of unease in my heart... -_-

Any bros can give me advice?

TS it is really un-believerable yr ttl income of 6.5K have no saving. But the advantages is you still young and may still have another 2 more 10yrs. I think you have to look into what have you contributing on yr high expenses and adjusting your lives style to start saving.

Yr inlaw may have known that and trying to help unless if you don mind about privacy otherwise hv to start searching where went wrong.

I have been down that road before, and know exactly how it feels.

Go with your feeling, money isn't everything...and not everything seen, is as rosy

as you deem it be. WRT to your in laws, best to "let laying dogs lie"

and have a cordial relationship, staying together, may result in

unnecessary friction.

amazing...you are bulls eye on what im feeling right now.

6.5k is very low income in MCF wor...

deduct cpf left 5.2k nia

deduct car approx 1.2k left 4k

deduct living expenses 2k left 2k

baby expenses etc.... it's practically hand to mouth

not much savings not equals to no savings la.. [blush]

due to some bad financial decision in the past.. was plagued with debts in the earlier days of my 20s.. [:(]

this combine pay is now..

2-3 years ago..it wasn't like that..I was earning ard 2.5k and wife was only doing some freelance projects.

only untill the past 2 years things start to stabilise.. debts finally paid off..wife found a better paying job, and I got promoted..

thats why i said slowly seeing some progress lor.. [blush]

i understand that conflicts are bound to happen.. Will have to try to make it work.

its not for me. Its for my child's future. Thats what matters most to me in my life. Hope she understands and not resent me for not giving her a home which we can call our own in the next 5 years or so..

You're indeed a very lucky man..if you hadn't noticed thru the years.

So I say , go for it and don't be too troubled by your loss of privacy.

If all parties respect each other, that will more than make up for all the loss.

So you better teasure your in-laws more...love your family and treat your own parents and siblings with a open heart and generous spirit.

That is the way to a happy and fulfilling life. [:)]
