Carpinion Neutral Newbie November 19, 2010 Share November 19, 2010 If someone ask you what do you drive.... what will you say? Eg.1 Owner of Honda Stream Reply: A) " Oh, I drive a Honda Stream " B) " Oh, I drive a Honda Stream RSZ" Eg.2 Owner of Suzuki Swift Sports Reply: A) "I drive a Suzuki Swift" B) "I drive a Suzuki Swift SPORTS" Eg.3 Owner of Mercedes C200 Reply: A) "I drive a C-class" B) "I drive a Mercedes Benz C200" Eg.4 Owner of Honda Civic 2.0 A) "A Civic" B) "A Civic 2.0" If it is a car workshop asking you over the phone regarding the car model so that they can quote you for services pertaining to the particular version, I have no issue with telling them in one shot the exact version, especially if the engine capacity or trim level affects the quotation. Eg. changing 4 spark plugs for a 1.8 C-class vs 6 spark plugs for 3.0 V6 C-class. But for some other situation, there is no difference in a 1.8 vs 3.0 C-class for services such as polishing package quote. I have come across acquaintances or even forumers who have to let others know exactly how much "superior" their version of the car models are. They seem to be afraid that the car they own is mistaken for the base model. If the acquaintance is a car enthusiast and want to know more about the exact version, he/she will ask further questions accordingly. If the person is just asking to make conversation and for the sake of it, it will be wasted on hi/her anyway and to a knowledgeable by-stander, looks extremely stupid and trying too hard ↡ Advertisement
