Aeromania 1st Gear March 3, 2011 Share March 3, 2011 I vote for xc60. 320 convertible is underpowered. if 325 convertible still alright. ↡ Advertisement

Mugen85 1st Gear March 3, 2011 Share March 3, 2011 Buy a convertible no need to go fast. A 320 will be just nice. Too fast people cannot see your handsome face and pretty wife....So get a convertible when you're still young and look stylish. Next time when you look back, At least you drove one before and know how it feels. Like what some bros said here, old already seldom will want to go topless... When have kids already den go for a powerful SUV.
S7rik3R Clutched March 3, 2011 Share March 3, 2011 If I will to choose, i will head for XC60 without thinking. Simply because Singapore is so pack and crowded, and with your convertible down, though it may looks sporty but the price u pay is inhale unlimited carbon monoxide all round you. There's no country side here in Singapore for you to drive and relax with your convertible down. And the weather in Singapore is so unpredictable the minute it rains and the next is bright and sunny. Just my opinion.

Just my opinion. Pack and crowded can always have the top up. Actually, there are many places you can have the top down. Sunday morning/evening along ECP. Night time around Orchard Rd etc... One thing bad about convertible is the wind noise when the top is up.
Ithunk 1st Gear March 3, 2011 Share March 3, 2011 320 Convertible or XC60? I am thinking of selling my camry and get one of these 2 cars. Its just me and my wife. Sometimes ferry parents. Which do you prefer? The feeling of driving in an open top or the feeling of driving in a nice SUV? Dont depend on this or depend on that...just based on what you prefer. I am having a hard time deciding. 320 u get class and power...

Just my opinion. no offence to you honestly but people like you never drive before convertible, 4seater or roadster, for an extended period of time of course cannot understand that kind of joy.. so your comments are one sided. im not referring to those 5mins test drive at car showroom or borrow friend's car at gathering for 5min test drive. people who drive such cars, usually have other cars in their garage to use when travelling to places with bad traffic conditions, warm day, normal grocery shopping or when more space is required. if everyone have this kind of mindset like you, there wouldn't be any convertibles at all on our roads. but not true right? there must be some truth to what people call "wind in the hair or wind in the face" feeling. people who reject roadster or convertibles, most of the time, somehow or rather, is because of budget issues or practicality reasons. usually the former, since nice convertibles/roadsters are usually very costly. again, no offence to anyone. I am having a hard time deciding. The convertible but not the 320. It is rather underpowered (as in seriously) for the money spent. For less $$ look around other options. An EOS does everything better for less, the new one even manges to look half good (Most hardtops are quite butt ugly). Convertibles are more for the lifestyle than drive. I picked up my first convertible as a 2nd car in 2007 cos i've always wanted to own one. Kept my 4-dr saloon, bought a 15 yr old soft top. Cost me around $20k. Drove it around and found that I liked the idea of a convertible. Sold it off in 2008 and got myself another new one in 2010. So you might want to do something like that just in case you don't like it. There are some nice ones lying around SG carmart. And there is always another time for that SUV. Angeloc Neutral Newbie March 3, 2011 Share March 3, 2011 Convertible of course.. Even if it doesn't go fast, I believe the handling is definitely better and more enjoyable. After a tiring day, in the cooling night, top down and cruise down the road... wooh.. that's what life is about.. enjoy it to the fullest!!
GLZT 6th Gear March 3, 2011 Share March 3, 2011 320 u get class and power... I think in terms of power, the XC60 is better, brand wise, its not very far away from the BMW. I think in singapore, the weather isnt as bad as most of you guys said. So long as the covertible doesnt take more than 15secs to close its top, it should be alright. There is nothing wrong with his one sided comment because it is his opinion? Not as if he is stating his words as a matter of fact that represents the mentality of everyone in Singapore. Chill. In some sense I do agree with him but I wouldn't mind enduring the pains of driving a roadster as I'm thinking of getting a S2000 for my next car. Only gripe is the ones available are clocking up mileage and beginning to age. Having said so, I am sure nobody would rate Singapore as one of the most conducive environment to drive a roadster or a cabriolet. Btw, what's so special about a 4 seater? It is getting very common nowadays. My CTR is technically a 4 seater and so is my family's Passat CC. But they function just like a normal saloon car. But they function just like a normal saloon car. 4 seater = 4 seater convertible in this case, sorry i didnt state it any clearer, because i wanted to distinguish between 2 seater convertible which many label it as a roadster. like i said, people who have one sided comments like bad weather, CO2, hot, traffic jams.. probably because of insufficient experience. i dont blame anyone. nor was my reply offensive or against anyone in particular. just that this kind of thing is sensitive, im already v cautious with my choice of words so as to be tactful one way or another, i consider myself lucky enough to be able to enjoy driving a convertible, thats why i feel to a certain extent, im able to offer the other side of the opinion, even if its not very nice to hear what im trying to say is, because people havent driven a convertible at all or long enough, they duno what kind of enjoyment it is.. thats why to them, it is non-existent or barely there. for people who have, they know how to look for scenic places, nice roads, look forward to good weather etc to enjoy the ride. even when others think of these as a chore, those who know the wind in the hair / face feeling, will not feel the same. the first time i had my own convertible and dropped its top the first night of collection, my whole body was almost trembling with joy. recently i took over my auntie's spare z4 for a week, i still felt the same Edited March 3, 2011 by Coupecabriolet
Wolfy3769 2nd Gear March 4, 2011 Share March 4, 2011 convertible is like a big no no in our weather.... a CC maybe a better choice... convertible model @ nite and coupe @ day... ever saw 1 guy in convertible.. i was in a bus.. squeeze with other.. but i wont envy him cause he was bake like a roast pig (skin literrally pink, i mean ALL pink), while i enjoy air-con in a superbus.. Rubberstamp Neutral Newbie March 4, 2011 Author Share March 4, 2011 i also realised that there are very very few convertibles that can seat 3 people at the back...due to the centre console that extends all the way to the back. Whats is the reason for this? RWD? i see only the 120 convertible can seat 3.... any others? ↡ Advertisement
