Ths is really something new to me

I thought I have seen my fair share of hit-&-run cases but this story apparently tops it all: hit, run-&-deny:

Bus driver hits my car but blames road turning as 'accident-prone' when confronted

post-5981-1299673134_thumb.jpg

At a left-turn along Admiralty Road, the bus alongside STOMPer Richard hit his car. When confronted, the bus driver refused to disclose his particulars and instead blamed the turning, saying it was 'accident-prone'.

"This is my experience with a bus driver and I seriously think the public should be aware of the issue and be careful next time. As the horrible act of this driver can really endanger people's lives.

"Meanwhile, I also hope that I can look for some witnesses which were there when the accident taken place.

"I was navigating along Admiralty Road on the way home from work at a moderate speed of not more than 50 km per hour. I was driving a Toyota Altis then. Traffic was pretty smooth despite the peak timing. The weather was fine and visibility was high as well.

"The unfortunate incident occurred while I was making a left turn from Admiralty Road towards Woodlands Centre Road. I was driving on the second lane and there was a bus of number 856 (License plate number: TIB866B) cruising along the same road on the next lane (third lane) simultaneously.

"The middle-aged driver happened to be trying to manoeuvre his 'super-long' bus along the same turning as well. Though I stayed within my designated lane throughout the turn, the reckless driver failed to do the same.

"The rear of this bus shifted out of the third lane and hit hard on the passenger side of my car while making this same turn.

"Shocked by the impact, I was dazed for a while. To my complete astonishment, instead of stopping the bus to assess the severity of the knock, the irresponsible driver continued on his way along Woodlands Centre Road as though nothing unusual had happened.

"I recovered my wits and quickly picked up speed in an attempt to overtake the bus. I would have failed in my attempt if the bus driver hadn

usually when a bus or long vehicle making a turn side by side together with me

i will either quickly turn out first or let them turn first

cause their turning radius is wide

Ya, I also do not do a turn side by side with a long vehicle such a bus.

Ya agree.

Gota give them a wide berth when making a turn with them or rather, behind them...

whether you let the bus turn first or the driver speed up to finish the turn earlier, when there is an accident between the two vehicles, the bus should have stopped anyways. no excuses on his part.

kayu altis lah, when turning with long vehicle, either let them go first or u go first, never turn at the same time with them, their turning radius so much bigger. i once witness a sedan driven by an auntie enter a turn with a large truck, from behind i see already confirm accident, the truck rear wheels eat into the inner turning lane, scrap nicely into the sedan [rolleyes]

i see the auntie stunned [laugh][laugh]

Since he ferry his baby often so by right should be a very cautious driver mah. Why he turn together with the bus is quite contradicting. Dumb ass driver!!! [laugh]

Bus driver seems to be at fault for turning into another lane without checking. Still, the altis driver seemed to have been oblivious to this all the while the front of the bus was eating into his lane? He already knew the bus was "super long", damn hard to judge turn-in entry/exit points accurately (I actually admire these bus drivers, I swear I could never drive something tha big!!), also alot of blind spots! The altis guy should've given him a wider berth to make the turn.

Most of these heavy vehicles are actually far easier to "pilot" compared to some superminis. You will be amazed by the amount of blindspots some of these superminis have.

agree... when comes to long vehicle, they need more space to turn, confirm eat into another lane... trying to drive beside is inviting trouble...

Very simple in such cases....just have to sacked the driver or prevent the bus from leaving the bus stop.

Soon the commuters will call police to come and investigate.

In Singapore buy car insurance seems like useless hor....always the other party deny. Insurance co also don't want to investigate.

anyone knows this victim (stomper)? ask him to surf MCF often and buy a in-car-camera

muahahahahahaha.....instead of getting sympathy from others, many of you here are laughing and mocking at him for being stupid/inexperience for turning together with the bus.

Have to agree the Altis driver has really poor judgment and caused his own accident. Experienced drivers will either let any long vehicle to turn first or they themselves quickly make the turn first. Never turn along side becos they need a bigger turning radius.

The Altis just stayed in his own lane. The bus crossed the line without stopping to hit the car.

So why it's Altis fault?
