Stanchiam 1st Gear April 14, 2011 Share April 14, 2011 (edited) Thanks for your very detail info. I bought a tin of acetone this afternoon from Homely. Put about 40 ml and top up my tank. Will monitor from today what the FC will be. BTW I use glass measuring cylinder and long neck bottle. Noticed that acetone causes plastic containers to melt on the surface and turn it opaque. oh, then its difficult to pour into car and be careful not to spill onto paint using syringe is still the easiest and cleanest method of course must attach with a tube just like mine with the tube, i just insert the tube into the acetone can, pull the syringe until i see it hit my required ml squeezing extra back into can, close the can, then take the syringe and insert the tube into the car and squeeze the acetone into the fuel tank clean and easy, dont even need to pour out acetone. Stanchiam 1st Gear April 14, 2011 Share April 14, 2011 (edited) Finally reach my full tank. Before acetone- 410+km After acetone- 515km And I did my best to drive as normal as possible haha! Km/l- before- 13.6 average After- 14.5 extra 105km is great, i am sure petrol company will not want u to use acetone as their sales will drop 105/13.6 = 7.7L x $2 about $15 saved, u pump in 40ml = 13 cents worth of acetone? thats great return!! nice, what is the ratio of acetone u use? from website recommend to use 1L x 1000/640 ratio meaning if pump in 10L then use 10x1000/640=15.6ml of acetone better not let government know, else will ban the sale of acetone as they will lose tax money on petrol just like when they find out people go jb pump petrol, come out rules our pap when come to money, will squeeze out as much from people as possible, u just saved 7.7L x 0.44 tax/L = $3.40 of petrol tax, tax evasion ....lol Edited April 14, 2011 by Stanchiam

SimplyTWL 1st Gear April 14, 2011 Share April 14, 2011 Hi bros, updates.. Went in bolehland earlier with GF for supper so just have to top up la, else wasted. So here is the little impovement collected: total distance travelled so far: 242.8km total petrol pumped: 15.6L FC for this 3/4 tank: 15.6 kM/L Last time round only added 35ml to my full tank. This time after topping up, added another 15ml, so see how it goes.. Bro PPeripheraL, where do u stay? Add 40ml to your next full tank FOC la, don't say buy From there you can monitor then decide if you want to get a can of ACE to try.

Brendon1980 Neutral Newbie April 15, 2011 Share April 15, 2011 Hi, I am curious how do you guys throughly evenly mix the acetone to the petrol? By injecting after pumping full but due to the density of the acetone will it mix or stay on top of the fuel pump so how does it get injected go into the 'combustion chamber'? Or before pumping full inject in the acetone?

Kb27 Supersonic April 15, 2011 Share April 15, 2011 I poured the stuff into a plastic measuring beaker and the beaker changed colour, white to be specific. So the pharmacies sell glass syringe? Acetone is a solvent. It reacts with certain plastics. Similarly, those using Carb Cleaner will find that it discoloured cheap plastics as well, usually turning it white and opaque. Acetone, like many solvent and volatile chemical should be handled carefully.

So the pharmacies sell glass syringe? my reply was mean as a humor not rumor anyway, my plastic syringe and tube look exactly like it was before using, nothing changed your beaker lousy? try go guardian and buy the 50ml syringe which cost $1.40 then attach a tube to it the tube is thick which i bought along the road opp the "zhu zha tang" and eminent plaza forgot how much, maybe 1.50 to 2 per meter, just buy 100cm is more than enough

Very scared of side effects etc. Seems like your FC decreased. Might be due to the diluted amt of acetone left in your tank. Assuming 40ml/42L (on first pump) and u added more petrol without adding more acetone.

I m using a pyrex glass measuring jug now. Then i pour the ace into a long neck glass bottle to make it safer and easier to dispense.
Hypermiler 1st Gear April 15, 2011 Share April 15, 2011 I started using acetone since yesterday. (topping up fuel tank to the brim) After travelling 133km, this is what i feel. My vehicle feels the same. I didn't expect it to fly. But what I did notice is, the transmission downshifts less along the same routes that I take. Up gradients are easier to overcome and the upshift takes a shorter time. Meaning, there is a real increase in torque. Based on my driving habits, I should be refilling my tank this coming monday or tuesday. I will post the results as soon as I can. ↡ Advertisement
