So do you agree that its last row is small and more suitable for young kids? And is the 149k promotion for diesel variant? If true, then good what as diesel is cheaper to run and have better torque for everyday run. Its century sprint at 10.2s is still much better than those full-size mpvs.

But you mentioned your mileage is only 13.3k/year so you have to do the sums if fuel cost is important for you.

Comparing Biante with S-Max, Biante is both shorter and narrower ( 4.71 vs 4.77, 1.77 vs 2.15) but taller (1.83 vs 1.66). So Biante should be easier to manoeuvre and do parking. And it offers tonnes of space that is lacking in the S-Max. So it is interesting as both are now at $150

Yes, i think the 3rd row is narrower compare to biante. thanks for the size comparsion! I am wondering whether which biante is bigger in the term of length & width. Yes 149k is for diesel model only. Road Tax higher by S$800 per year compared to petrol car. given my low mileage usage per year, i think petrol car make more sense.

To be honest, S-max looks nicer than biante in term of appearance. but Practicality still more important. Cause I prefer sliding door and spaciousness in 3rd row.

Beside, I think Japanese car servicing cost might be cheaper than European car. That's what I preceived but never own one before to vertify it.

By the way, I think black and white biante looks best among all the colours.

Hi, I'm starting to look for an MPV and the Biante interests me (together with the Noah) . Have seen the car at the showroom but not test driven yet.

Can someone tell me why is the centre headrest at the third row seat sticking out so much?

Certainly good to check out Biante when doing your rounds.

The middle seat actually make up of 2 big seats that can be splitted sideway to create a walk-thru isle. In that way, no need to keep shifting the middle seats to access the 3rd row.

Hi Heartlander - I was refering to the third row seat. The centre headrest sticks out.

Do you know why? It looks really out of place.

Maybe its some Japan regulatory requirement?

I didn't ask when I was at the showroom because that one had the headrest removed. Only found out when I was trawling the net and saw the pix.

I also had it taken down as it Block out alot of the rear view. For me the last row normally sits 2 young kids, so no issue.

Almost all jap cars are able to do that it seems, like a fetish.

Noah has better fuel consumption on paper

Under japan testing method, Touran got 15km/L, Biante is 14.8km/L, Noah is 16km/L. But in real life should be all similar. For Touran i got about 10km/L, so hope to achieve similar with Biante.

For those who are worried about the power of the engine, rest assured that it is more than adequate. Today carried 3 adults and 6 kids, and the drive felt the same. The 2L engine rarely revs above 2000rpm even when cruising at 90km/hr. Definitely not sluggish.

By the way, Noah is cvt so should feel more sluggish. As cvt engine is more problematic, i would not advise to get the car unless carried by BM. Just my humble opinion.

What's a CVT engine?

What's a CVT engine?

Pardon me, it should be the cvt gearbox. The spec listed in sgcarmart also put down AWD and is actually the 14.8km/L variant, meaning it should drink more fuel with better traction.

So on paper already more thirsty than Biante. The FF variant is the one with 16km/L FC.

I'm not too concern about the engine or performance. Its an (large) MPV after all. I'm currently driving the Isis and I need the space and strong preference for sliding doors (they are so much more practical). Hardly any options out there. Mazda5 is really cramp and I can't stand that centre seat on the second row. Its useless and uncomfortable. Looks like its between the Noah and Biante. CVTs are OK. Just use the right fluid.

if coe continues its downtrend, its likely the new honda stepwagon will reach SG as well.

Thanks for the heads up. I remember looking at the Stepwagon 9 years ago and didn't like it then - esp the digital instrument panel. Will check this out if it comes in.

I haven't checked out the Biante yet - will do so soon - but confirmed the S-Max 3rd row is only for kids. The SE stated clearly the positioning of S-Max and Galaxy at Ford. S-Max is sporty and Galaxy is for space. S-Max 3rd row is not significantly better than the Wish i'm driving now.

You did? I eventually shortlisted down to Wish, Isis and Stepwagon too about 8.5 yr ago when choosing a MPV, and eventually went for pragmatism and took the wish as parts are more common...

Test drove all 3 and thought stepwgn was significantly more powerful and spacious, with rear a/c too... but was afraid no spare parts so avoided it...

I think the new one is not digital anymore, from online videos. Is any PI bringing it in?
