Blackyv Turbocharged May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 Can see very clearly that these P8P supporters thinking are very self-centered. Moredhel 2nd Gear May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 Speechless... and I was thinking of moving to Aljunied in the near future! Anyway its just 2 to 3 goondoos trying to stir up sheet... Standard. We have hardcore supporters for both parties. In all fairness, as long as they don't defame WP MPs, they are free to comment, as are we.
Uninitiated 1st Gear May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 I think any effort to organize activities and events in Aljunied should be done together with WP, so as to avoid duplication of effort and resources? Carrying out such activities, be it fund raising or organising events, with the involvement of WP also shows a united front and the "Aljunied spirit"! Darryn Turbocharged May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 (edited) Anyone here knows that statistics of how many people (the percentage of the prestinct) using these RC facilities? If it's a small percentage, then I guess it's no big deal. But it does gives a -1 impression of the losing team with it's removal. For me, most of the time is spent in office and home. Weekends I rather spend more quality time with family outside, and till now I've not even visited a single RC in the 3 towns I've stayed. Sometimes it's more than just "visiting" the RC (and / or CC) Speaking of my personal experience 1. My daughter attends a dance class on a Saturday, organised and administered by the CC 2. She attendend a creative writing class at the CC premises (different CC) 3. She attends TKD which was lobbied for by an RC member, and is "verified" via an RC. Speaking of my RC, we also 1. Arrange an annual Christmas party for the residents 2. Have festivals for each of the major religion holidays 3. Most recently arranged a Mother's Day festival and concert 4. Arranged a Halloween event for residents And this is just a samping. Don't believe that an RC is "only kopi and karoyke" for the oldies. They do much more than that. Another example would be that one very energetic member of our RC organises a textbook collection and exchange for less well off families. We also have a monthly meeting with a) Town Council b) Police c) HDB to raise estate issues - such as cleanliness, facility maintenance and the like. So if you have ideas for the estate, or simply want to report a fault, you can (don't have to) approach your RC members, who have the opportunity to raise it "in person" to the respective manager in charge of the estate. My RC also arranged a "Citizens on Patrol" group to look out for crime - so please all, an RC is much more than "just a room I don't use". Mllcg 3rd Gear May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 I thought that was involving Cynthia Phua and not LHH? What Iam surprised at is that more of the richer people actually vote for opposition in Aljunied..I always have this impression that the well-off and richer people tend to vote for PAP instead.. lol. not necessarily. look at East coast
Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 Hmm I tot PM Lee mentioned after the election to "Lets close ranks and move on as Singaporeans.."? Now close RCs? well... started with RC's first .....

Damienic 5th Gear May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 my friend was very straight forward with me he said that he really hopes that oppo wins. but he said that there is no way he will vote for oppo. he told me sorry he and his family comes first.i respect his views. i just smiled and i didnt even attempt to have a debate with him as he is very sure of what he wants. again the strange view that living under oppostion ward is tantamount to suffering...that is why the ruling party gets away with it time and time again becos of people holding such strange views... I have even heard of someone who is unhappy with PAP but did not vote for opposition becos he is worried that the stock market will crash if opposition wins too many seats...sigh.. Lethalstrike Turbocharged May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 does it mean general populace of people staying in private are more discerning than the general populace of heartlanders? or they got more money heck care the upgrading carrots? Elfenstar 3rd Gear May 9, 2011 Share May 9, 2011 I dunno. I mean different ppl will have a different perspective of what is fair or unfair. What's their standard of fair? But they never say.... they will just cry it out loud w/o saying anything else. Dan some ppl will follow or echo the same thing. So why is it not fair and what should be done to level that "fairness"? Nobody bother to say why. Its not fair because the money for such structures, etc come from taxpayers money. As such it belongs to the people, and not to a political party. Thus they have no right to remove it. ↡ Advertisement
