Japanese Car

In the midst of planning for my wife's retirement.

As part of the plans, I will be looking to buy a 5yr old Japanese car <$40k for her to ferry the kids.

I have basically lost touch with the non-premium continental market, so perhaps the folks here can highlight a few good choices.

Criterias

======

No more than 2liter cap

Absolutely no MPVs

Able to sit 5 asian size adults

Leather seats preferably

Automatic tranny

I hope to be able to buy directly from the owner in due course (in a few months time) so those folks looking to sell their car can alert me on this thread too.

Thank you.

your budget does not really allow considerations of many other cars other than those that have been mentioned in this thread by other bros, especially based on current car price trends..

more choices would emerge if u allow the budget to go up, of coz to your own comfort level.

Dont want to up the budget yet, its a car purely for thrashing around.

And the usage is expected to be low. it must also be quite hardy

Swift sounds not bad.

Anything in that category?

Jazz or Colt , good?

Maybe A class?

Consider a Subaru Forester. Known to be a hardy car, especially overseas. The wife would prolly like the higher vantage point too.
