Sayang Neutral Newbie August 2, 2011 Share August 2, 2011 When I was younger,I spent almost whatever I earned. Now with family commitments,I try to save as much as possible. If stretched myself like I used to,I think I can stay in a condo and drives an E class. I must be quite lucky, I have "cheap" taste and dun gian big cars... so even if I hit 5 figure salary I dun hanker after big cars.. my salary has quadrupled since I started, but I still like small cars, ez to drive It works to find other interests besides big ticket items, house and cars.. Shopping.. sports / travel.. not too exp to upkeep.

Sayang Neutral Newbie August 2, 2011 Share August 2, 2011 It's a bonus that wife can earn so much. Sometimes I wished my wife can earn higher so we can have a better life instead of depending on me alone.but then,I don't blame her.it's a man's responsibilities. That's why until now iam still striving very hard in my career path. I am earning = to my partner, but I don't pay for the major stuff in the house. I upkeep myself, my car, $$ to my parents and toys for my kids. My CPF goes to the mortgage of our house. My partner takes care of the rest. I expect him to, becos he is the head of the house. Frankly I find a man who cannot upkeep his family and need to rely on his wife's earning.. this kind of guy.. a loser The rest would mean.. Kids edu Maid House expenditure groceries.. weekly dates, he pick up the tab for our dinners/drinks.. watever Unless some freak accident along the way, partner cannot continue to feed the family and need wife support, esle I think this arrangement is what I expect . before and after marriage. No offence, I never really asked around if this arrangement is common, but when I do chat with my friends, above arrangement is pretty much the norm.. at least in my social circle. Sayang Neutral Newbie August 2, 2011 Share August 2, 2011 (edited) Another admirable scenario.. the one and only I know Husband - less than 5k take home WIfe - Almost double Husband take care of everything .. all bills.. even the house is fully paid by him alone. Wife save up whatever she earns... Pays for the holidays Story from a close fren of mine.. really admirable, and no complaints from him.
