no la, that one long ago liao. spin-out. (i think that wld hav been the 3rd time)

car story is here: http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2660202

Yeah i heard about the E30's tendency to spin in the rain from my uncle who used to own one. Well the car's light plus it's RWD so that's inevitable if you aren't careful. Plus back then there wasn't DSC on cars so it's entirely up to the driver to regain control of the car.

I must say that this car is pretty solid as well. About 10 years ago an ef civic had beaten the red light just as my uncle was making a u turn and had hit the rear passenger door. There was a loud thud, I got a shock when that happened. When my uncle, aunt and i got out of the car, we noticed that the civic's bumper had been dented but the bmw only received a scratch to the passenger door which if you didn't look closely, you probably won't even notice.

That's a nice car you have. I really love the E30. If my uncle hadn't sold his, I might be driving an E30 now. Were the rear brakes drum or had they been converted to disc brakes?

E30 325i had discs all round ...so easy upgrade if you can find the parts!

Yup my car crazy uncle did just that to his 316i. He even put the 325i engine inside along with a manual tranny.

There are a few of them around. Those manufactured in 1995 are the real masterpieces.

Mine looks rather beat up eh? Ali's car was just behind mine.

Ahh i see. You carry a lot of stuff every time you go out?

So, that Merc behind Ali's one is yours? There's a patch of uneven paint on your boot, at the left side where the words are. Do you know about it? Seems to be rust on the inside or a botched repair job.

You mean in front right? Wow you must have scrutinized the car from head to tail. Haha. Yeah i'm aware of it. It has blobs of touch up paint here and there. Suspect the car was involved in a minor accident before i got it. Oh well what matters is that the chassis is straight. No intention of repairing it since the COE expires in 2013. Since the car's engine, suspension and brakes are working correctly i'm fine with it.

Nope, I mean behind, on your boot.

Haha when i said in front i meant in front of ali's car. Yeah i noticed it on the trunk lid. Thanks. If the COE drops then maybe it'll get a new coat of paint with the rust repaired. Just curious, did you take photos during the meet up?

anyone dare to put all drum brakes?[grin]

not that bad la .... last time my old mini was drums all round

and my beetle also had drums all round. I only upgraded to front discs coz mechanic offered it.

the only advantage of discs is that discs don't become useless after going through flood.

otherwise, the braking performance is not much different .... can still lock brakes even with drums!
