THE top five earners from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Class of 2011 are drawing five-figure salaries, the highest being $20,000 a month.

Two-thirds of graduates have already found a job, according to a preliminary study conducted by the NTU's Career and Attachment Office. This is comparable to last year's graduating class during the same period in 2010.

A total 9,066 graduates will receive their degrees - the largest graduating class in the NTU's history - from Monday till Aug 1.

At the first convocation ceremony on Monday were President S R Nathan and Education Minister and Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen, both of whom were present to witness the inauguration of Professor Bertil Andersson as the university's third president.

I doubt it's easy money. They never mentioned that these ppl have to work long hours with little sleep, no weekend, no social life, got money also no time to spend it and the work pressure. See how long they can tahan this kinda lifestyle. Ppl willing to pay this kinda of salary of course their expectations must be very high also.

It is all propaganda to justify the transport fares hikes, the rise in HDB prices and the costs of living..and who knows maybe these 'top wage earners' are all FTs...

my mid thirties fren who incidentally holds a prestigious "Nanyang MBA", has been out of job for 5-6 months...all employers somehow avoid her...and her asking pay for her age and experience considered normal... [knife]

cause most of them going not because of passion to teach but because they think pay is good plus got school holiday.

if pay low, you see whether they are interested or not. likely only those with passion will join nia.

the passion is squashed by the fact that they are over-worked w all the trash and the kids are not manageable. if you want to teach, better to be a lecturer.

it doesn't say that these top earners are undergrads,... so maybe they are postgrads with several years of working already?...
