Mini Cooper queries

Anybody can share their purchase experience with Minis?

My family is considering to purchase our very first Mini, specifically the Clubman Saville Row.

Was also given an offer for a display unit that comes with Sunroof, Harman Kardon Sound System, Electric Seats & 19" rims.

These are the offers provided by the salesman.

MINI Cooper S Clubman Savile Row Lapisluxury Blue:

$156,088 - $3,000 = $153,088

MINI Cooper S Clubman Display Unit:

$173,888 - $3,000 - $5,000 = $165,888

The $5,000 additional discount is because it's a display unit.

The 2 units both come with conditions of minimum 50% - 5 years loan and 5 years/100,000km servicing package.

We're more inclined towards the Display Unit as it's really high spec.

I'm hoping to reduce to minimum loan to just $60,000/2 years, any idea if that's possible?

Also, is there any other things that I should look out for/ask for?

Hoping to gain some insight to getting a better overall package/deal.

Much thanks in advance.

At MH, you don't have to take loans if you don't want to, it is not a hard condition.

Their pricing is however not as negotiable as other Conti ADs from my experience.

Don't trade in any cars with them too. Cut throat offers. (most dealers are) but other dealers at least compensate by having more sincere overtrade. At MH, no such thing as overtrade despite the low ball trade in.

Take it, leave it.

Thanks for your advice, will try to negotiate on the loan again then!

Anything else I can look out for?

I only have relevant experience buying from PIs actually, where we can bargain on the accessories given, pricing etc.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

Their offer is really relatively lower. I have a offer that's 10% higher than what they offered.  [bounce2]

I am not sure whether loan is tied to discount.

If yes, you need to calculate whether it is worth to take more loan & early termination after 2 years.

Forget about all those accessories.  What's important is discount.

For car cam, i am not sure whether it is still the 1st gen BMW/Mini or not.  If yes, avoid at all cost.

Don't nego too hard with SE.  SE might give you more discount to close the deal.

Need some clarification on what you mean by car cam - are you referring to in-car recording camera or the reverse camera?

And, how do I tell if it’s the 1st gen cam that’s to be avoided? Able to share the model number or some way to identify it?

Greatly appreciate the advice from all the gurus here!

Hearsay it is better than Version 1.

Only the clubman (maybe the countryman). The pricing positioning also indicate that these are more atas up in the chain.

Rest of range still make do with manual...even in the highest jcw trim.

I see.

The lack of electric memory seat can be quite a pain if you have more than 1 driver in the family. Guess the classic Mini range is meant to be a me-me car.

Yes indeed......I have to adjust it each time I take over the wheels from my wife.

But luckily it is only once a weekend kind of frequency.

Still keeping the JCW 3Dr/Convertible in my shortlist despite that..... :D

Sunroof

Electric Seats

19" Rims.

12 K more .. but looks attractive in terms of price..

The running cost of 19" when time for replacement of the tires as well as the ride comfort may be a tad harsh.
