Hi all

I am interested to get the mini one, think it is quite a good deal as the latest version is essentially a Cooper but 30k cheaper.

I checked with mini Singapore and they told me the wait for a 3 door with leather seats is about 4 mths. Is that the normal wait time?

Sorry for hijacking the thread. Similar to pawpaw82, I am interested in a Mini one albeit a used 2nd generation one.

Any one here driving that can share if there are major problems with the car?

If i'm not wrong it should be using an Aisin transmission as opposed to the CVT.

Hoping not to buy a lemon..

Since used, just get Cooper S.  Don't waste time on Mini One.

You will not regret driving Cooper S.

The MCS I saw is 37.8k with 5yr coe, mini one is 30k.

MCS by dealer and Mini one by direct owner. I'm after the fun of it, not a speedster and just got married and house so not much cash to burn...

What about reliability? It is a 2010 model afterall.

Nice, mind sharing your thoughts on the MCS? Anything major you had to deal with? I saw one on SGcarmart with 140k mileage going for 37.8k.

This is a 10yo MCS. My worry is if I get it it may have engine or transmission problems. My old Peugeot 206 gave me a lot of headache

I will not get such an old car.

My MCS past 5.5 yrs old.  Till now, i have leak host & spoilt Valve solenoid.

Other than that, it is trouble free.

Hi all, thinking of getting a vehicle and the 2012 Cooper S Countryman (Pre-facelift) is in my shortlist.

Any comments on the car? Have went to see a few units but condition isn’t good.

What kind of troublesome you encountered?

my friend had one and it was fuel pump problem and had it changed but still problem persisted.

In the end it was a harness fault that has to be changed. Not cheap at 1k+.

and some others nitty gritty things that came along

I think this is a good summary of the MCS but as its not an asian configuration / environment, the driving stress induce and pattern may be slightly different.

I din know the oil starvation was a problem with the mini

Better buy new or preowned one with warranty. MH was selling Mini that comes with 5 years warranty and servicing for a while (no more), if not familar with Mini and prefer to buy used, that might help to mitigate some risk. Someone takes a big chuck of depreciation off you and don't have to worry about big repair bills.

High mileage Mini is a no no for me.

mini seems to have higher wear and tear especially in the engine compartment.... and especially R and generations before. High mileage equals higher chance of parts needing change.

Even my F-series 5 door at 20K mileage the engine mount needs changing! Luckily under warranty and the AD changed it FOC.

For all my other cars I owned be it conti/Jap/korean...never have I needed to change engine mounting within 80-100K of ownership.

Any clue if the Camden is better than Baywater edition?

I think Camden are not MCS.

For Bsywater, it’s MCS. option includes panosunroof & Harman Kardon audio.
