Piyopico Supercharged November 20, 2011 Share November 20, 2011 Once in the morning, i was on the bartley flyover heading towards maris stella. I was on the outer lane, at about 90-100km/h. The road was clear as it was very early then. I kept checking my rear view mirror as i will give way to a faster vehicle.. I was about to overtake a taxi when this vw golf gti came very fast. The moment i checked the rear view mirror he was already traveling super fast. I wanted to give way but was just abt 2 car lengths away from the taxi. The next thing i knew, the gti went to the left and then squeezed between the taxi and me. I still met the gti driver at the red light at maris stella after the flyover.. Some of these drivers are really impatient and drive dangerously, switcHing lanes irresponsibly. If you think about it is logical for the gti to squeeze in between. Imagine he is speeding and closing in on the cars in front. Now if you speed all you can see will be two cars in lane 1 quite close to each other. He would not know who is hogging and it could be both cars are pretty happy to maintain the same speed and cruise along. Either he finds a way to overtake both cars at the same time or do it one by one. Nothing wrong as long as he does it safely. Then again safe to him may not be safe to you cos a performance car have better power, agility, brakes etc. It can be bread and butter sort of move for him but really upsetting for you. Chill la. I would be upset if a normal family saloon does that cos there may not be much room for error. However so many family saloon cars are turbo or supercharged nowadys so even that may not hold. Maybe he diarrhea. ↡ Advertisement
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 20, 2011 Share November 20, 2011 Isn't right to keep to the lane even if it it driving at the limit and other cars are hogged behind.. No mention which lane No mention what vehicle No mention what category of road No mention what travelling speed. I believe none of us an give you satisfactory/useful comments. Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 20, 2011 Share November 20, 2011 You confusing me now I guess he meant he's red plate and his perception of the VW driver was making an assumption that off-peak car drivers are all inexperience. Did someone added the P-plate if there was none, to confuse us?

Atonchia Supersonic November 20, 2011 Share November 20, 2011 Did someone added the P-plate if there was none, to confuse us? Doesn't really matter, respect all drivers and give way if when possible. Then blood pressure and heart rate will reduce. Now I'll only increase my heart rate for running Go with the flow and drive safe everyone.

StefanK Supercharged November 23, 2011 Share November 23, 2011 If I see someone faster behind me, I like to move left to let them overtake. No need for them to use lane 2 to overtake me. But if they move left before I can change lanes, I will slow down for them to come back to lane 1 before they get slowed down by another car on lane 2. Great driving habit! I wish I can be the same as you... more consistently. I only give way to people who do not tailgate me aggressively then attempt to cut without signalling. Especially during peak hours traffic. I spend half my day on the roads every working day, and my experience tells me that lane hopping slows you down more. Tested and proven. Now I just keep to overtaking lane then plan my overtaking procedures.

Lane 1: I don do lane 1 Lane 4 is the new fast lane! That explains why I was horned at for doing 60kph on the fourth lane of a five lane expressway. I was going too slow for the fast lane. Lane 1: I don do lane 1 Lane 4 is the new fast lane! this is so true in singapore context, whenever there is a traffic jam, sure will see many goondo changing lanes between lane 1 and 2 )causing the super irritating start/stop in the expressway....), and way MUUUUUUCH smoother traffic flow (and faster sometime) in the supposedly slow lane..... ↡ Advertisement
