FT disappointed with stamp duties

FT who come here on short term (1 year in the video?) should not be considering buying property in the first place, he should be renting.

With the new measure, he should be thankful that his rental will drop.

He was hoping:

1. Save on rental

2. Ride on property (boomz) to make a profit

Singapore already gave him a chance to upgrade his life. If he feels short changed, like I posted in another thread, he should L-E-A-V-E! Plenty more than willing to fill his gap

Orbi good. Gahmen doing *something* right at last.

Good, good, PAP, do more, do more. Lots and lots more to penalise ephemeral FTs and incentivise the born and bred Sgreans. This is only a start, and it's a long road ahead, but you may actually be able to win my vote come 2016 if you keep doing more stuff like this. ^_^

Suggestion: take a leaf out of the OZ book and force FTs who leave Sg (and that includes PRs who leave Sg and don't return for more than one cumulative year out of three) to sell their properties. To Singaporeans.

I beg to differ. Contrary to what a lot people think, this move by our Govt is actually a very smart and self-serving one. It creates a movement of $$ from developers' pockets to the Govt's.

I am not sure if if it is true as it has not been verified. I heard developers are giving discounts to FT, but selling "original" price to Singaporeans. Here's a link from HWZ on this topic:

HWZ Discussion Thread

I might be wrong. Let's not speculate first but wait and see what is our Govt's next move. They might come out with other policies to counter the developer's discriminating discount move or they might just do nothing. My gut feel is for the latter.

Good luck to all Singaporeans. Whatever policies our beloved Govt come out with we are always, almost certainly, the losers...

The most simple solution is to

1. Only Singaporeans can buy freehold pte properties, be it landed or high rise.

2. Only Singaporeans household (either Husband or Wife must be Singaporean) then can own HDB flat.

3. Foreigners can only sell their properties back to Singaporeans only. (Practiced in most countries).

Then, you need to tighten the criteria and quota for granting PR and citizenship to foreigners.

The only reason why this FT talks with such arrogance and conceitedness is that all these years the gahmen has been serving generous benefits to these mongkoks on a platter so much so that they have come to expect cheap housing, high paying jobs and rich benefits at the expense of locals as part of their standard entitlement.

I couldnt care less if they want out, there is a big recession coming up next year. We need all the jobs we can find for our own countrymen first. This chap can take his 'talent' elsewhere. [rifle]

Although I am not a developer, I feel the most sorry for the developers. They bid high high for land based on estimation of the revenue they can generate but now kana sabo by govt. Its bad enough developers have to contend with so many unpredictable market forces but now govt step in and create drastic artificial situation to press the price down. They should compensate those who got the land.

Please lah! These developers already earned a lot before this rule comes in. They won't lose much and they are not stupid too. They will find other means to attract buyers, even foreign buyers. Maybe give them 10% discount etc. In the end, they won't lugi one, just earn less only.

You should feel sorry for the locals, whom the govt never compensated.

Actually the govt should prastice what foreign countries do. Let the foreigner buy only BRAND new properties that is already T.O.P. And they can only sell to the LOCALS, not PR but citizens if they want to sell off. In this way property market will be in sync with the locals demands and affortablilities. This way, foreigners will think hard before investing in local properties.

When they are laughing all the way to the bank, do they feel guilty of over charging the common folks out there? <_<

If Badder still around he will quote your bar charts and what not to prove that these talents are in short supply in Singapore and that employers like him need them cos locals not good enough.
