Its face value, most Singaporeans think that buying a VW is atas.

In Europe, its just like an ordinary B&B car and its worst here in Shanghai, VW are commonly used as taxi.

That's the power of branding.

OT, You prefer Merc or Beemer (basic model)?

actually why ppl think VW is atas?? even the SE told me VW is BB car...

First, with TSI (new tech), they think it is top of the line for the engine.

Second, with DSG (Dont Say Good), they upshift like there is no tomorrow but cannot downshift...

Third, it is a conti.

Let's all boycott buying VW cars!!! Already the recurring DSG and mechatronics unreliability issues are bad enough

Buying VW cars is the latest trend. Alot of ppl still perceive this brand as premium.

But seriously, what other good car to buy in this price bracket?

Hi,

Just to add my experience when collecting a new car. Not a VW.

On the day, whole family was there to collect the car. Was of course excited and full of anticipation. First time collecting new car so also a bit blur.

The SE was there and after doing some paperwork, proudly proclaimed that they just wax and polish it the day before. The car did look very shiny.

As I opened the rear passenger door to let my dad-in-law in, I was greeted with a clump - not exaggerating - as in a nest of ants, having mass orgy around God knows what between the rear seat shoulder area and the car body.

I dared not disturb the nest in case they mass hysteria and spread all over the car so I asked the SE over and she gave a little shriek.

She asked another male SE and they discussed what to do. Eventually the male SE used a big wet cloth and on a count of 3 wiped the nest off in 1 swoop.

My wife was saying those must be Japanese ants. And for the next few months, some lone samurais still roamed my car and bit me to show their displeasure.

So much for wax and polish just the day b4. Probably they did but just didn't open the door to clean the inner areas covered by the closed doors.

I just kept quiet while the SE apologised and fussed around my wife explaining to her about the car being in some warehouse b4.

Probably if this happened today I might request for a change of seats and clean up the car again since I got kids already, but the point is, new car also can have problems at the point of collection. My problem was considered minor I think, but the fact that they didn't check the car more thoroughly is that most AD assumes new cars to be problem free and that consumers are likely to be none the wiser even if they swapped around the new parts.

no, it's 2.284 to be exact [laugh]

Yup, sorry my bad! Must have skipped the 8 when typing (i-Phone pseudo keyboard lag?)

Yes, it's 2.284x

As is back-calculated from LTA's ARF & other import taxation breakdown.

actually a lot of ppl forget one basic issue.

Car is ship in by Ocean.. so typically for MIJ will take around 4 weeks on the vessel?? longer if from other place.. now one question.. what is the possiblities that the car come in unscratch. i think hardly possible. so confirm will have touch up here and there one.. that is why they always have 2 to 4 weeks to touch up the car mah.
