Bro, I have a CTEK comfort indicator 56-382 in my car, given by someone. Anyway, there's a connector that I can plug in to charge the battery.

Which charger do you recommend? Can you PM me the price? Thanks.

P.S. My factory is on the 4th floor of Eastlink too. :D

In your case, a basic charger would do the job.

MXS800 from ctek

12v .08amp 4 steps charger .

single charging mode

or

ESi 12000 ( our own inhouse brand from korea)

12v 1.2amp 4 steps charger - single charging mode.

Available in 110 volts & 220 volts AC current.

Certain higher end models comes with the reconditioning feature.

More info could be found on our website http://www.limbat.com.sg/ or from cteks official website.

Tks Limbat.

I like to clarify on XS800 charger. In some cases, it is termed XS800 (and indicated as 4 step) and in other cases it is termed XS0.8(and it has 6 step indicator instead of 4).

Did i understand wrongly? Tks for advice.

Most CTEK battery chargers will be able to charge with the 56-382, it is a generic CTEK socket & plug thingy.

Charger like ctek needs a AC power supply source. It helps to keep battery in tip-top condition, that is, fully-charged.

Batteries in sg are often undercharged, especially if you drive short distance, at night, where you use the battery a lot.

When a battery is frequently undercharged, it has a shorter life span. That's where a charger helps.

A charger is not able to start a car connected to a dead battery. You'll need a good battery to do that.

In the good old days many battery charger makers does produce portable/hand carry battery chargers with engine start capacity. Apparently the demand move south overtime and for those in this business only produce push cart typefor large workshop usage especially those engage in servicing/repairing buses and trucks.

Not necessary it will be in a fully charge status - if the battery plates are in poor health they will not be able to store the current. The most accurate method to determine the charge status is to use a hydrometer to check the electrolite specific gravity reading of each cell.

Or a power pack like this:

Hi bro. I also like this kind of power pack. However I dunno where to find in singapore and when I went to Australia, they mentioned that I might have problem getting it on the plane as it was a hazmat.

Any idea where to get locally?

Alltools at Lavender St.

It's not going to be cheap as it contains a battery inside and high current cable.

Expect to pay about $500.

If you buy cheap ones like those at Carrefour for $50, usually it will not work well.

Fren had one, but couldn't start my car.

if driven 120km in a day and mostly highway, is the batt consider " fully charged"?

I'd say it's considered fully charged.

If you have a multimeter, measure it in the morning before starting engine, which means it has a rest of at least 10 hrs.

If it's around 12.66V and above, that's fully charged.

However, this doesn't necessary mean your battery has the power to start engine.

That can be measured by hydrometer (for acid concentration) and specialized battery digital meter for cca.

Oh .. cos my current situtation is sometimes i dun drive the car for a week. and chances are the battery is not dead , however the power is insufficent to start up the car. accodinging to my volt meter it shows around 10 +v to 11 volts area. So i assume the battery just went flat not long ago. In this case , would the CTEK help ?

For just one week, the volt has drop about 20%, either yr battery is ageing or there is a slight parasite drain taking place. Any battery charger designed for lead acid battery ( avoid using trickle charger as the charging will take too many hrs) could easily bring the charge up to normal within few hours.

PS You have to be very careful when disconnecting the battery, if your ride is a European or high end Japanese car ( e.g Lexus)to back up the keep-alive battery with a plug in battery powered back up device. Without this back up memory saver device, all yr driving, radio , seat settings etc will be wipe off from the memory and in disorder. The only way to reset to factory default is via OEM scanner.
