Mother's last act of love: The mother's hug saved her seven-year-old son's life when they were flung out of a car that skidded and crashed along the North-South Highway but her other 14 year old son died.

So sad!

That is the 1st time I find hazard light so useful. [laugh] [laugh]

I think reasons some are lead to misuse the hazard-light because of its orange-yellow spectrum. Such colour penetrates better than the usual red-tail lamps in low-visibility conditions.

The higher-intensive rear fog lamp fill this role of visibility, not hazard lights.

If want to have visibility at poor driving conitions, try taking a break at R&R until better condition or get one of this

Wide tire are better for sandy/soft ground, not paved roads, especially rain/higher speed. You may be aware thats the reason F1 cars got spoilers to compensate for road adhersion lost with their speed and wide tire

Spoiler is for negative lift lah. During high speed, there will be turbulence at rear bottom which would lift the car up.

bro, dangerous to use hazard signal when not stationary.

Drivers behind you will be confused.

Bro, if you use hazard lights when you're driving, question: if you signal to change lane, how can other driver know?

As drivers, we are like the captain in an aircraft and are responsible for the safety of ALL our passengers. So no need to be paiseh about getting all to buckle up.

For those who are still not convinced about need to fasten seat-belts, the following video clips may help:

Start with the soft approach:

If still not successful, show more gory video clips:

Third level, if still cannot convince, enlist the help of professional dummies!

If still not effective after trying all the above, then I think you have no choice but to install this device:

And also install interlock so that car can only be started after all occupants have fasten seat belts.

For a passenger who prefers not to fasten seat belts, driver should ask for $130 deposit in cash (which I think is the amount of fine driver has to pay if TP caught any passenger not belted up) and ask him to be prepared to pay another $130 fine himself. If not "please alight!".

Sometime $$$ can convince more effectively.

Neutral Newbie

Bro, if you use hazard lights when you're driving, question: if you signal to change lane, how can other driver know?

If one changes lane (whether from slow to fast or vice versa), it means the person is not in a hazardous situation, and so should not have used hazard lights. In my opinion, a situation is hazardous if you are not able to see others clearly, others may not be able to see you clearly, you saw something dangerous that others may not be aware of, or you are not moving or stopping like the others are.

That is why I said it is dangerous to use Hazard lights while driving - it confuses other motorists.

On the NSH it is the norm, and frankly speaking, having driven in the super heavy rain a number of times I prefer that people do it. It does make a very big difference to the visibility. Even when some cars turn on headlights they are less visible than if also turn on hazard lights.

It is a lot lot easier to see a car that has its flashers on - of course, when you do it, must also adjust driving style a little (as in, not change lanes)

I understand what you meant.

I have seen how other motorist also do the same blinking dance when heavy downpour occur in Malaysia...the temptation to follow them

But that is not the purpose of Harzard light.

Seeing Hazard light improving better invisibility does not mean using it whenever there is poor visibily...in fact it may have an opposition effect when wrongly applied.

The proper and safer why is to just switch on the usual lights and turn on the front/rear-fog lights when available.

If the downpour gets very bad, we have only a few options:

a) Slow down

b) or pull over and find a safe place to stop - this is where Hazard light comes in.

Drive and ride safely on the expressway especially after dark. Just one lapse of concentration can make alot of difference.

Must drive defensively esp. when not familiar with the roads. The other day, on the way back from Kuantan...

Can't really see much in front right? Who knows the left lane disappears, then at a car length away, this rider /w pillion filters towards the right without checking n signalling. I didn't even have time to brake! My instinct was to speed up and go past him asap cause in my mind I was thinking that if I jam brakes, the car might sway and hit him.

You can compare to the above pic as to how close I am to the kerb. Luckily, I was driving a small kei car.

i enjoy watching the superbike overtake me on NSHW, most of them quite cool with the full gear. Their speed can go up to quite high, it was alright during day time and the visual usually all clear, but night time can be quite bad for all motorist.
