Neutralsg 5th Gear April 23, 2012 Share April 23, 2012 Was at Takashimaya today with my wife. She saw a cooking pan and an auntie staff had cooked some very thin pancakes. So my wife asked the her how it can done with the pan. Guess what the answer we got.... "You buy the pan then I can demo to you." I was like WWWWWTF! Hope she never get anyone to buy from her. And no, this is a local auntie, not a FT if you are thinking that. What are your encounters on bad service or bad attitude? It's completely the opposite in most heartlands whereby promoters will continuously demonstrate the use of their products to sell. Perhaps, Taka got the wrong person (whom I consider a short sighted sales promoter) for the job since she can do a demo but refused to. She had probably lost a few potential customers for such attitude. ↡ Advertisement
SimonTan 2nd Gear April 24, 2012 Share April 24, 2012 Such promoters are Expert at looking at potential customers. To assume all lookers and askers are potential customers are not productive. Not sure what the term is called. Most likely the promoter see TS as just a lurker who ask for fun. That is why she come up with such answers to suss out whether TS got the time and effort to really listen to her or not. My mum used to worked as promoter. She has the skills to only promote to those who really got time to stand there to listen to her sales pitch for 15mins or more. Because she just need ONE onlookers that is able to stand there to see her demo, then she will not feel like she is talking to air. Also once there is a Single person interested, those kaypos Ah-soh will also crowd around to generate more buzz. If TS can reply back "Surely you can still show me your pancake skills, without me buying these pans right?" If the promoter still say, "No buy, No demo". Only then will I say this promoter is a lazy joker! Usually the promoter will say "Sure, I will demo to you now, since you seems interested enough!" Can concur with your comment above however, the auntie was reported to have said "You buy the pan then I can demo to you." IMO, an enthusiastic promoter will capitalise on an interested enquirer than simply brush aside an opportunity of a potential customer. Sometimes, one's judgement can be impeded by one's prejudice. Hence, there will always be a more successful sales person than a mediocre one. Have a nice day!

Darthrevan Supercharged April 24, 2012 Share April 24, 2012 Yes, should have done that and will do if I encounter something similar. Then again, dunno who the superior or manager of that auntie Maybe she belongs to higher management I would rather she's not there promoting. Just leave the product there on the shelves for people to see see look look. Will get better sales. just saying in general..not u..my opinion is when a person did not feedback by the lone act of ignoring such unacceptable behavior..one is indirectly encouraging bad service to thrive..as a service provider..Takashimaya is duty bound to be service centric

Vid Hypersonic April 24, 2012 Author Share April 24, 2012 has it occured to you that all those pancakes were because everyone wants to see how it works but ultimately no one buys? It's possible but that still doesn't mean she can have that kind of attitude. If she was positive, she will get her sales. If not, result will only get worse.
