Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 Personally I dun see the flaw. Taxis and private are cars that travel on Sinapore roads. It is reasonanle to be part of COE what. You may be aware that taxi used for commercial purposes ↡ Advertisement
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 The poor will prefer cheap COE for affordibilty. The rich will prefer expensive COE for smooth traffic. Definitely can see the split in class from an answer The poor surely die faster from the stress. How to live beyond age 100? My MP die because of that? Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 I don't think group taxi together with commrecial vehicles is a good idea as it may further push up COE for heavy vehicles.. You may be aware that some taxis got bigger engines than some commercial vehicles
Hosaybo 6th Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 Wrong formula...... Bumper coe years with low coe........ See mistake, change formula without thinking about implication......... Also implement claw back of bumper coe in same period where formula is change without thinking about implication......... Also implement reduce vehicle growth rate reduction at same period without thinking about implication........ Coe shoot up...... Conclusion: there is a lack of leadership with good foresight and result in Policy implementation that has not taken into consideration of downstream implication. Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 COE for taxi should be in their own seperate category. Grouping it with Group A is just not right. Why not put it together in Group B instead? Let the rich have a feel of how it is like though in all honestly, I don't think it's gonna affect them. + they are same engine size
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 There are only two ways COE price can come down. One is for the economy to slump like s--t... alot of people jobless. Secondly, is for LTA to increase the quota for COE. Seperating COE class would not help if they were to cut the COE supplyfor CAT A and allocate them to the Taxi category.. LPPL. I believe the first one can come soon due to aging baby-boomers
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 SINGAPORE: More Certificates of Entitlement (COEs) may be made available to motorists in the coming months. Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew said he has tasked the Land Transport Authority to look into delaying initial plans to cut the vehicle growth rate to 0.5 per cent from the current 1.5 per cent by August. Speaking at the sidelines of an event on Friday morning, Mr Lui said he understands motorists' concerns of rising COE prices. That is why he has asked the LTA to study if there is flexibility in the plans to cut vehicle growth rate to 0.5 per cent. "Knowing that in the second half of 2013, into 2014, and so on, the number of COEs that will be available because of the deregistration of cars reaching the 10-year cycle and so on, will be significantly higher than what it is today," said Mr Lui. "So I've asked LTA to consider two things very carefully, whether we can exercise some flexibility moving from 1.5 per cent to 0.5 per cent and whether we can defer the adjustments on the over-provision of COEs that we have done in 2008 and 2009." LTA is expected to complete its study by the end of the month. - CNA/cc http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1199229/1/.html I am wondering why they need to study the problems they created? They failed to forsee/understand chronic issues?
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 It does help, as by allocating seperate COE Cat for taxis, it reduce competition bidding for Cat A. So end up COE may even reduce for Cat A and maybe even Cat B. Plus when in times of a lot taxi bidding, Cat A will not be much affected. You may be aware that a 500 taxis fleet order is a significant portion of the 2000+ quota available each time
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 I prefer no ERP. Can you cycle a road bike? Certain direction/distance cheaper and faster cycling than caught in daily traffic jams. Can also collect medals at cycling competitions with the daily cycling practice
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 I wonder if we will evolved to less cars, but lots of scooters, bicycles and other 2 wheel transport in Singapore...? Not sure if this is related, but when I was in HsinChu, the number of scooters on road is way times more than cars on road. Could it be due to vehicle control..? Just a guess.. You may be aware that there is restricted quota for the direction too
Escksu Clutched May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 Of course cheaper cars. I can get around jams by choosing alternate routes. If cars are so expensive that I cannot afford, how does less traffic on the road benefits me? Hence, using traffic jams is just plain excuse. ITs merely clearing the roads for the rich people. Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 Not possible. Motobikes is more for people who could not afford cars. So you think many car owners want to downgrade cars to bike where they could afford to buy car?? I believ in survival
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 Agree. Its just my guess that as the overall cars population on road decreases, some of these car owners might just turn to 2 wheeled since they can't afford a car on road by then. Nowadays, to be able to afford a car is something way out of reached for me. Can only dream.. + can try toy shops
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 I think more will be squeeze out by taking taxi. Taxi revenue increase. [laugh] Too much confort for downgrade cars to bikes. Some rather not to have any private transport than have bike due to safety reason also. + train daily delayed, cycle bicycle?
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 It's a wrong move - taking one step forward and two steps back. What's the point of having lower COE prices when the jams are gonna be even worse off? Can own car, but everyday stuck in jams? For what? The LTA should continue to progressively reduce vehicular growth, down to 0% p.a. and thereafter, target to negative growth (shrinkage) to say -1% to -3% p.a. for x years, until our expressways are back to free flowing (acceptable = 60-70 km/h, uninterrupted) during peak hour rush. Then, I say, we have a workable plan! Of course gotta improve MRT/buses significantly, to handle all the ex-drivers falling out from the road system, as well as catering to the expected foreign influx growth. Used to caught Flu taking trains to work. So drive to avoid MC. Cycling next?
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 Very stupid right ,than why cut quota in the first place. The Lta CEO should be sack. I believe came calibre as SMRT CEO?
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 The high cost of COE is due to the large influx of foreigners. That's the bottomline. I like to believe it is otherwise
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 5, 2012 Share May 5, 2012 Not only high influx of FT, but also more FT wth company sponsored vehicles, anyway COE won't go down cos the excess coe will be grab up by taxi company who has a backlog of cab waiting for coe. So in the end we all still have to suck thump. They should just have a seperate cat for cabs, set it at a certain amount to control thir growth. Not allow them to compete with the rest. Must we wait till one day, big taxi companies buy up all the coe at high price so that others can't own one, thus forcing everyone to take taxi at higher prices?? How to curb taxi company, they bid high than say must increase rental, than increase fares. In the end, we the public pay. + we paying either way ↡ Advertisement
