What EV are you driving ah? So solid sia. Lol.

Polestar.

Honestly, I didn't like it when I sat in Tesla and BYD back then. The test vehicle door actually vibrated when it was closed.

Yeah, we have to adapt to the situation we have and the demand is building up.. now the settings allow a slower trickle which makes it worse..

In the past I thought this feature is good, set it trickle and I could time it just nice to complete when I finish work at 6pm. It was rather empty anyway.

Later I realized it deprived people from using when demand increases..karma bites back now lol.

It seems to me that owning a car is primarily about convenience, the comfort of private transport, and saving time—after all, time is money. However, with an EV, new concerns and overheads come into play. Owners may need to install multiple apps to find charging stations, monitor the vehicle, and manage firmware updates. There’s also the added burden of locating available charging lots, dealing with idle time, and scheduling charging sessions.

For those who don’t have a private charger at a landed property—especially price-sensitive owners looking for the most cost-efficient options—this can become stressful. As more EV owners join the market and charging infrastructure struggles to keep up, finding free charging lots and managing idle time will only get harder.

One possible solution: if about 50% of existing petrol stations were converted into fast-charging stations, that could significantly ease the shortage of quick charging options in residential and office areas.

+1

The sales reps did try to use this as a 'feature', which hmm... I was thinking the same thing
This kind of regulation will be hard to enforce.. unless you can make the AC charger deliver the max current by default during the communication phase... that is actually possible. The handshake phase allows car and charger to talk and then charge.

In my opinion, also need to see which provider and price they charge.

You can install the many chargers but if they are priced higher than the nearby one, it'll be still be underutilized and people will still complain.

For instance my place MSCP has 6 Shell lots, but they are usually empty, even at night. I suspect it's the price. They charge 0.69 now.

The nearest MSCP some blocks away has 3 SP but almost always full.

In my estate we can park in both MSCP with the same season ticket, only issue is to walk.

After their green discounts it's actually cheaper overall.

New features doesn’t mean the product is work in progress though. Grok was pushed out in US last year and Singapore will get it sooner or later which is a big upgrade. In that case all phones are unfinished products cause they have major updates every year.

No offence but this seems like an old man yelling at cloud moment in this age of AI and self driving 😅

Grok is now available on Telsa OTA update w a "Hey Grok" voice command... 😘

So how did your devirginise session go🤣🤣

At first sprint off the lights like a hero.

after that lao hong and walk.

total took 1 hour thereabouts 🤣

Batt temp on DC is 46 degrees on avg.

I checked back my history, on AC11, avg is 38-40 degrees.

So charging on DC is about 6 degrees hotter, but over an hour instead of AC avg 38-40 over 5-6 hours.

What you just put down definitely resonate with many still haven't jump onto the EV bandwagon. The hassle is something that is real for some people as not everyone has charger at work place or is mobile to be able to go malls during the day to do quick DC charging.

I am lucky to have ac charger at home so essentially my ownership of my EV van is almost 100% like that of an ICE ride - no need install charging apps at all and able to charge as and when I want at night. I also not disturbed by the lack of vehicle app as my use pattern is exactly like that of an ICE ride.

One thing I find amusing is the advocating of DC charging in this forum as everywhere i read the message is that DC charging is bad for the battery blah blah blah. Even my SE when collecting my ride advised me to do ac charging only if can and do DC charging only once in a while. But these long term EV owners must have owned their EVs long enough to come to that conclusion so I do not want to judge them. Anyway life is full of choices, there is no right or wrong in most cases so long as no one is harmed along the way.

Anyway EV is the only way in few years' time, so enjoy your ICE experience when still available. The charging situation will definitely get worse in coming years with EV adoption shooting through the roof.

all of the above are not issues to me, nor do i find them an inconvenience.

we don't need 10 apps for charging if a routine for charging has been established, for home, work or at your favourite mall for meals/grocery shopping. at most 2 or 3 from my personal experience.

managing firmware updates? there's nothing to manage nor monitor. OTA is pushed. when u see it, just click download can liao ma.. nothing difficult.

locating available charging lots? again i feel this is an "issue" that non owners point out, which IRL doesn't happen 99% of the time.

dealing with idle time? charging is done concurrently when i am at home, work, or at malls. what idle time?

scheduling charging sessions? isn't having to make a special trip to a petrol station even more troublesome?

and charging is already so much cheaper than refueling.. i don't know what else those "price-sensitive" owners want when the difference is cents between charge operators.

EV ownership is not as troublesome as people think it is, but i steal therock's favourite term "YMMV"

That is provided you stay put in SG, if drive out of SG to up north further than JB, I think you will have panic attack liao. For the battery degradation is over hype liao, most people don't drive til the COE expired. Probably before 7-8 years will sell off the car, battery degradation doubt will more than 10% by then. Else just buy EV with blade battery, no worries on 100% full charge.

JOMCharge.

In addition, SP Power also allows cross-border charging.

Along NSHW, there is charging station in Ayer Itam (almost next to toll plaza) and JPO.  That's off my head.

I don't own EV.

Plan ahead

Say for a KL trip

- get a car with >400km range, ideally real range 500km - my good friend just went up in a Model Y, no stops

- download ABRP and plugshare - ABRP, if you pay the app during the period of use, you can get a lot more info

- plan a few pit stops, esp since there will be pee and food breaks

 - expect about 20% range reduction if you're going really quick

- expect some chargers to be occupied / down / fake (no longer there)

- I downloaded SP power, Jomcharge and ABRP for example - I was told Shell - you can just swipe the credit card

Good for you. What I mean on Idling time is the idle charge if the driver does not move the car from the charging station. As for petrol station it is plenty in SG, no doubt the driver still need to make a trip to the petrol station but the turn around time is fast even if there a crowd of cars filling up.

My areas I already saw some EV avoiding higher charged price station, and the lower price station are mostly occupied. Now with trickle charge feature on some EV, guess some drivers will abuse it.

The price-sensitive thingy, remind me of the HDB red lots car park beside Woodleigh Mall, it is always occupied with some luxury cars that are non-residents of the HDB flats. The resident complaint many times, the cars kena summon many times, but the luxury cars still park at the red lots as the drivers can afford the summon. What I am trying to say those drivers who are price sensitive will try to stretch their dollars.

Best is some EV owners parked their car at the charging port without charging. Depriving others from using, inconsiderate to the max.
