deserters in SPF are place on wanted list.

once screened will know they are traced

problem is police dont go around to check IC and SAF not so on to spot check so often, maybe initially but soon they lax liao.. so even thou sg is small but these are not some major criminal so they wont spare so much effort or manpower to hunt him down...

AWOL for 8 years? How could it be possible for highly-computerized Singapore?

It is unavoidable to leave digital foot prints (e.g. IC, NETS transactions, medical visit records etc etc) behind, and then finally get traced of the whereabouts.

possible. why not?? leave nets transaction doesnt mean you can get the person. by the time you reach that place, he already gone liao.

so what if they trace. MP cannot stand there and wait for him every day.

I think AWOL is not such a serious offence that they will spend so much time tracking down the person. Its not like they are some dangerous criminal. They'll probably only get these people when they go home and the MPs just happen to visit or if he gets arrested for something else.

Tell you guys the stupidest case I encountered in NS.

This guy was on a continuous cycle of "AWOL-got arrested-go DB". He was already an NSF for 7 years and counting.

Doesn't surprise me, Tong, I saw one 10yrs and counting, when I ROD, he was still serving DB.

Mas Selamat left one leg kicking everyone open eyes big big also can let him run to M'sia, why not possible for those that are hunted with a fraction of the resources.

What can they do when they come out, nothing at all, so might as well make it a long term issue. Out and in again. Free food, free lodging, what else can you ask for. No life simpler. The one I know of was a bit mental case also, from 3rd guards?

want to siam NS also do it legally ma.

keng sth serious u can PES F le.

Not so easy. Must have some real serious mental problem or physical disability just to get PES F. I know some NSF with mental problems and some with low IQ. Still can get PES C or E. If you can get PES F you'll probably have much more serious things to worry about rather than whether or not you need to serve NS.

They'll give pes d first and review at least for 6 months before giving the chop for pes f.

I have managed 2 cases personally as I was the one who sent them to imh (no one wants to go there) and cmpb for medical board.

And I have seen those cases going in and out of db (when they do ffi) for more than 7 years.

not pes D.

i myself am a PES F.

before the MO medical boarded me, he asked me if i really wanted PES F.

He gave me a 2 mth MC immediately and recommended me for medical board.

board was over before MC expired

you guys can laugh because most of you live comfortably while some out there struggle to meet ends

i know one who had to AWOL because he needs to work several jobs outside to support his family

He should look for his officer for help on this. Our army have many ways to help in this.

one of my platoon mate encounter this problem and our encik help him get approval to work outside plus some monetary aids.

all it take is ask through the legal way.

another alternative is to sign on of course.

of course some are not willing to loss the freedom, but it remain, signing on if your family is having financial problem is one of the better alternative on the long run as compare to say, AWOL and work part time for 7 years?? if he had sign on. one the 7 year he could had already finish serving his bond rather than still moving in and out of DB??

Yes have seen such cases, it's a matter of CO/OC wanting to help or not.

Pes d was for long term mc during my time for insane cases.

Unless u have a serious condition that warrants pes f such as physical disability, then it makes sense for immediate decision on pes f
