His parents must be worried sick. If missing, he likely fell into water since he was only not seen for 5 min. Hope someone finds him

This one i concur...everytime we do river-crossing one of the controller on the assault boat will be carrying a rifle. So to when we were in the RPL from Bandar Seri Begawan to Lakiun and vice-versa! [:(][:(]

Inflatable lifejacket beside using blowing function, there is also CO2 canister at both left and right side of the pouch and also 2 strings that can pull from both left and right side of lifejacket.

http://www.sailingproshop.com/lifejacket.aspx

So in the event of lifejacket touches sea water, the sea water will come in contact with the salt bobbin, it dissolved and produce a spring that puncture the CO2 canister and inflate the lifejacket.

In the event that the salt bobbin fails, there is also the manual pulling method which is to pull the string and puncture the CO2 canister and activate the lifejacket.

So all these not for show..

For practical usage, lifejacket will not be blow up as it hinder personnel doing work. So when a person accidently drop into seawater, there the lifejacket will still be activated with the above 2 methods, so still ok la.. [laugh] [laugh]

They do safety check for crocs and fire warning shot to scare crocs away , before we do crossing.

this one i not sure...especially the salt-bobbin one cos we are talking about saf issued equipments. I only know they was a string for a fast inflation and a whistle...and we had to blow the bugger up and do a buoyancy test everytime we are issued the vest!
