If the insurance company see this video then sure 50-50 already. Cuz even if you got the right of way doesn't mean you don't have to practice defensive driving and try to avoid an accident.

 

On the other hand, a driving instructor ever scolded me just because I stopped when I noticed a car approaching the junction really quickly although the lights are in my favor.

Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 at this area is so wide and cars move at practically expressway speeds. Plus it was 1am, everyone just zone out...

This is quite common on our roads. One guy wanted to beat the lights while the other fellow moved off the second his lights turned green.

Maybe that was a suicide attempt from the taxi driver. It's a pity I doubt he got what he wished for.

Ever handled a case like that before when I was helping out in a workshop. The other driver submitted a similar video to the insurer thinking he sure win cuz he got right of way. However he did not. Got 50/50 only cuz he did not watch out for oncoming traffic. Was told that so long as turning right still must look out.

In this particular case, the right turning driver had clear "Green arrow". In your case, was it similar or he turned on straight green?

Green arrow on. But video clearly shows the other car not slowing down and approaching at high speed as well. Maybe it depends on how the insurance companies fight as well. Sometimes two identical cases can get two different results.

This type of driving is really pathetic. I guess that the right turning car would have thought (?!) that taxi would stop as it was his right of way and taxi would have thought that he could chiong as usual!!

The arrow haven't come out green the car already start to move off. And he pedal all the way until impact with taxi. Like that no sure win. What if the traffic light spoil? Green light did not turn red for the taxi and the taxi also got DVR proof? Then the car jia liat liao...Means he did not give way to taxi.

Taxi expecting the car to practice defensive driving and give way while car thought he got right of way taxi sure have to follow the law and stop for him.
