I think it depends on the school too. My fren used to teach in a Pri Sch in Jurong area which starts at 8am. I was surprised when she told me.

Why ah?

I woulda thought the whole purpose of single session is to

a) Fit in more cca

b) let kids teachers sleep longer as no longer need to start so unreasonably early

Not much other choice. Assuming school wants to start at 7:XX I will just have to change her evening classes, and chase her to bed earlier.

(at the moment swimming and chinese both finish at 9:00)

Lesser help from daddy for homework, but what to do?

she has night classes every night? if not you can spend time on her home work the days she didn't have classes. On the day that she has outside classes, then no more homework that evening (cos she should have done it in the afternoon).

In order not to spoon feed them, we dun really coach them on the school/home work, we go through the answer and they have to seek explanation from school teacher or at tuition if any. I find they can be more independent in learning that way.

at 930pm we will normally watch news and catch up on the local/world events happen that day.

Twice a week for classes, plus Friday (which I'm not counting)

For homework - 90% of the time, it's jsut sitting with her while she gets it done. Must also listen to her practise piano, read stories, do my exercise (which she often comes with me) and then if working late....

I also want to know why?! [confused] I also wonder what is the purpose of single session if everything remains almost the same?

Is your school single session? What time does it start?

(and what time do you think it should start)

What time do the kids normally finish by the time all ECA, CCA, TCSS etc etc finish?

My kids' school is single session, it starts 7.50am till 1.30pm. If have CCA, they dismiss at 3.30pm.

My ideal time would be they start between 8.30-9am!!! ....just my opinion only! :D

School start 8.30am, even later than some who start work?! -_- But good la, at least those who go work at 6-7 morning, traffic would not be heavy.

Good in a sense it gives parents more flexi time to manage bringing the kids to school. Afterall, its a single session school, and the lessons can end later in the afternoon, but of course NOT full day lah.

When I suggest school start 8.30am, it does not mean you must bring the child there at 8.30am. You could bring your kid to school earlier, up to your own time management.

I used to go to school early, then play in playground. Or go library and read book. Or sit in classroom and finish homework before class.

The assembly starts 8.30am. Lesson starts at 8.45am...this is what I think is ideal.

You should have finished homework at HOME, not in classroom before lesson starts! That is why it is called "Home-work"!!! :D
