Hi All,

Just went for tyres rotation a couple of weeks back and the tyre shop mechanic told me my left front rims is dented quite badly. :o

How do I tell if it is dented as I can't feel much difference in driving as well as can't see it at all. [:(]

Thank you for your advice....

If you are doing wheel rotation, you are probably there when its done so question is :

Did he show you where the dent is ( a badly dented rim can be visually seen )

Unless the rim is out of round, there should be no big problem.

Otherwise he could be trying to sell you some new wheels.

If you don't feel anything vibration on the steering wheel or any other funny feedbacks

then I doubt there's is big dent on your wheel..

However if you're always want to chiong on the NSH at breakneck speeds, then go have

a second opinion at another tyre shop.

you should ask him to show you where is the dent or how did he identify the dent. and if the rim is really dented badly, like previously said, you should feel like you are constantly travelling over a hump or you will feel that the air in your tyre is leaking quickly.. or is the mechanic just trying to say that there are many curb smashes on ur rim :D

Dented or out of shape...as i know rims are made of material that is kinda soft and constantly going over hump with speed or shallow pot hole will somehow cause the rim to go out of shape....ie..while driving a certain speed your steerling wheel will be kinda "shaky"....

when they do wheel balancing, spinning the wheels on the machine, u can tell the unevenness if it is indeed very badly dented.

Was chatting with the uncle doing the rotation, not the guy balancing it,so did not see it. -_-

see with your own eye when they doing balancing. its not rocket science. if u see the wheel spinning and the rim is in/out in/out or up down up down like that u know at once some thing is wrong.

if its spinning nicely then u ask him show u exact spot where is damage. rim damage normally can be seen with naked eyes physically.

if he say he feel . or by experience he can tell u your rim is damage tyre not good . bababa. then u know he is trying to throw smoke.
