Is there such a workshop?

I have not come across a workshop who would go pump a spare tyre without being asked to. Even the tyre specialist workshop I often go for wheel rotation don't do so. All the time, it was me who instruct the mechanic to do so, and then he will do it..... <_<

My workshop always does it without me telling them. Part of the servicing package right? They will check all the tires including the spare for me.

You saw them do it with your own eyes ?

Anyway if your workshop does it without telling, then you are lucky to find a good workshop. [thumbsup]

Yeah. Cuz its a fast job ma. Put the car there the first thing they do is open boot ask me check got any valuables then straight away check spare and top up. Once they put in on the ramp they just check the tires and rotate if needed. Usually I stay for awhile to chat with them first and during that time they do simple things like checking tires and the lights.

Many years back along NSH, I saw a Singapore registered car with a flat tyre. I stopped to offer help. The driver told me he could handle a flat tyre all by himself (his girlfriend with him) and I can be excused. He confessed the next time we met, that previous occassion along the NSH, his spare tyre was also flat. He only found out after I left them.

So you actually know this guy (hence met him again later) ?

But if stuck at NSH still not so bad cos can call the Plus recovery vehicle to help. Worse is to be stuck at those ulu B roads where very few cars passes by.... [sweatdrop]

In EMERGENCY, for front wheel drive vehicle with driver alone:

Mount the flat tyre in the rear nearside wheel. This will minimise the load on the flat tyre. Drive with slower speed when making U-turn or Right Turn. May have to replace this flat tyre with the flat spare tyre after many Kilometres driving.

If there is one passenger. Have the passenger seated behind the driver.

The same protocol can be used for 4-wheels drive/All-wheels drive. But not rear wheels drive.

Never drive with flat tyre/tire on the front. Almost impossible to steer the car properly.

just MHO if one has to drive with a completely flat tyre best is to drive slowly out of the main road to a safe place and wait for help or selfhelp , is still very dangerous to do anything along main road especially express way.

to me is better to leave the front flat tyre rather than spend time and effort to exchange front rear wheel.

I believe our steering wheel only control front wheel ,,

to me is a extra service for any tyre workshop to check your spare tyre air pressure and pump when is necessary.

is also good to request check the spare tyre .

can! the first time I encountered this was when I rented a car in usa and the spare tyre was called into play when one of the main tyre punctured.

the original (spare) tyre is 13", 4 tyres are 15". Can the spare used for emergency?

if is the original factory spare 100% can install on your car (without any brake upgrade)

only important thing is make sure the donut spare tyre is inflated to proper working pressure usually is 420 kpa

another thing is should you see any of those ring or washer left on your hub you need to remove them prior fixing your original spare wheel

otherwise you may face the spare wheel dropping out from your wheel hub

Today i got an itching feeling to pump my spare Tyre. The car was bought new 5 years, and i never touch the spare Tyre. Who does anyway?

Took out everything from the boot, lift up the cover and took a look at the spare. Press the rubber, it's damm soft. haul out the entire Tyre and start pumping. The machine read just 40 kpa when i inserted the nozzle into the valve! Imagine i got a Tyre puncture and i had to use the spare Tyre. No way i can drive with a 40 kpa Tyre......

So don't forget your spare, especially you go into msia frequently........

That time drove to JB with my girlfriend whom I have just started dating. Damn embarrassing cause I didn't know how to change tire and she taught me on the spot. Totally feel emasculated. :/

Yes guys. Spare tire damn important. Changing tires in JB is such a dangerous experience for me. We hurry finish up when we saw a bunch of gangsters walking towards us. Heng!

spare is like insurance policy

no such thing as waste money

just 1 more point to note

How many of you check your spare tire air pressure

AND how many of you tire shop check your spare tire air pressure when you are at the WS

( I meant you saw them check before you, not those tick on Job card/ sheet)

Tan chong servicing incl spare tire check. So just let the air out of your spare tire and send in for servicing. After that check if they pumped up the spare. You will then know if they checked. Think I will do this next Servicing.

you got the time and power to let go the air instead of pumping air in your spare tire?

next thing is make sure the spare is properly secure after they had removed for pumping your spare
