Nav14 6th Gear September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 try saying that to an ambulance. if u can give way to ambulance... why cannot give way to someone else who may be having an emergency?? If you are having a medical emergency take an ambulance. If someone is dying at the hospital, driving a bit faster is not you going give you a lot more time to say your goodbyes - additional 2 minutes. Why wait till the last minute if someone is already in such a serious state? It cannot be that there are so many people speeding all over the place to meet loved ones who are on the deathbed? The word "emergency" is being used very loosely by idiots who just want to speed and think the road belongs to them . I speed as well , well beyond 90km/hr , where I can and not because of an emergency, but if I come up to the car in front of me that is travelling at 90km/hr, regardless of the gap ahead of that car, I will either slow down to the same speed or overtake . My flashing of lights and horning, including the occasional middle finger (more for commercial vehicles driving on 1st lane of expressways which is becoming increasing common nowadays) only reserved for those travelling at 80km/hr or lesser in the first lane with a wide gap in front. ↡ Advertisement

Nav14 6th Gear September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 ya some time during the day , all 3-4 lane is full, esp if your front car got even more cars in front of him. there is no where else to filter, just travel at a comfortable gab. and if the car at your rear is impatient and he want to tailgate , then he is a idiot tailgater but if like another bro say he feel 90 in lane 1 with no car in front, and he feel all right. then he is a typical road hogger. cos it seem they cannot get 'lane 1 is for overtaking' into their head. Yes the fastest lane is for overtaking but the maximum speed allowed is 90km/hr even while overtaking in the fastest lane. As long as I am overtaking the vehicles on my left while keeping to the speed limit of 90km/hr it is not roadhogging, even if the Ah Beng behind me wants to go at 200km/hr. Nav14 6th Gear September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 Just curious, what constitutes to road hogging? Like your case doing 120 on first lane is still road hogging? It's really puzzling.... I mean isn't there a line drawn, since we have speed limit on our roads? Cannot be that we're doing 150 & a Lamborghini or Ferrari behind decided to do 200 & still consider road hogging? That will be illegal street racing........ At 120km/h you are already speeding let alone road hogging. I do not think TP has so far issued 2 summons to the same person driving at 120km/h for speeding and roadhogging. Well if the fellow Ah Bengs in this forum were in TP they would have just done that. StefanK Supercharged September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 Do you siam to lane 2 when my QQ closing in at 150km/h? I try to go 160km/h. on a serious note... I think road hoggers have a sense of entitlement, over inflated sense of self-righteousness to make up for their inconsideration to other road users. Just because they think they are right, everyone else is wrong. Want to act TP, please join TP, I heard they really short handed.

No wonder now the fastest lane is lane 3 on expressway most of the time. Cannot understand the mentality of cars rushing just to jam up lane 1. Like Genes said skull made of kevlar, I think some are made of super duplex materials!

Personally I feel, as long as you are overtaking the car on your left, then fine... stick to the lane. But as soon as one is done overtaking and there is a reasonable gap for one to filter to the 2nd lane, then one must do so and let the faster cars through
Raymondism Twincharged September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 Just do not be ANTI-SOCIAL on the road If someone is coming up behind you on lane 1 and you can give way, just do so And that someone should give the car in front some time to react think about it... do you deliberately walk slowly if someone seemed to be rushing for time? do you bang into the jogger in front just becos he or she is running slowly?
Hamburger Hypersonic September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 One newbie driver asked me the same question as illustrated earlier on. She was doing 110 and was tail gated by an audi. She was educated by her BIL that she is not wrong not to give way and should ignore cars behind. I gave her another school of thought and let her choose which one is more appropriate. She chose the latter. To all road hogs, put your ego aside and get your busts off overtaking lane/1st lane.
Keei 2nd Gear September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 (edited) Yes Now what happen if it happen car behind u in rush for emergency? And empty lane ahead of u. U nvr know whos the passenger in rear car. I believe road hoggers have bigger ego and not willing to give way. Worse for those who didn't bother to constantly check rear mirror, even if got ambulance coming with siren without sound, hogger would nvr realise the situation If all lane full, traffic heavy, of course its not road hogging. Whats meant by hogging when front clear and behind got queue IMHO, speed drivers have even a bigger ego. Speeding @ 120 ~ 150 during day time plain dangerous, especially with so many cars around. What do you get for speeding? Reaching your destination 5 mins earlier telling ppl how fast your car can go & the shiok feeling. So who has bigger ego? Singapore roads are not built to speed like Autoban. You want to speed, do it in Sepang circuit or do it in the midnight where there's not much cars. You crash & burn is your family's dai ji. Don't kill others while in the process of killing yourself. Edited September 7, 2016 by Keei

Don't kill others while in the process of killing yourself. You are confusing reckless driving with speeding. Anyway, you are exaggerating when you say 120 - 150 during day time. Even on Sunday, my max speed can only hit 120km/h for a good 1km before I have to slow down. And no, I don't go around bragging to people that lim peh drove 120km/h very shiok... I don't think the people here does that too. If today I jogging in the park and I'm faster than everyone else, I don't neh ni neh ni boo boo the others. I just carry on jogging. And for the same analogy, if you are slower than me but in front of me, I will look for ways to pass you or I just say excuse me, or I shag until cannot talk, I make my steps louder so that you'll know I am coming from behind. Will you deliberately block me? Will you just move to one side? We are all sharing the same roads, be considerate to other road users, doesn't matter within the limits or not. If all road hoggers give way and the overtaking lane is used as it's meant to be used, very soon, the need to drive above 100km/h will become redundant, as traffic is always smooth flowing and we have no need to make up for lost time. Think about it.

You may be right that nine out of ten of those speeding at 120-150km do it out of thrill or they may even be reckless. However do consider that the tenth person may have a real emergency. An accident to their love ones, seeing someone on their last breathes, ferrying an injured person or a lady due for delivery etc. It does not take you more than a few seconds to move and let them pass. It does not cost you anything either. In fact if you look for the good things and can imagine you did someone a real favor, it will make you feel good. That tenth person can be you in future. Pass it on. Cheers. Edited September 7, 2016 by Piyopico
