When I purchased my current place, I had the wall of the bed room hacked away to create a bigger space for the living room.

Now, I need a small study room so I decide to "reclaim" back part of the living room space by partitioning it with a sliding door.  The same type which you would use for a HDB balcony, but smaller in total width.  The width of this room is only about 3 metres.

Does anyone know who much would it cost to install such a sliding door (and frame)?

The top of the sliding door would probably not be able to reach the ceiling.  Some minor work may need to be done to cover the top of the door frame to the ceiling.

ceiling high may just box up a hallow reinforce plywood, beneath this a hanging track down to slide the door and has to be plastic panel just like toilet upgraded door due to weight concern. easiest way out with the covid, draw a string with toilet screen where you change your scenery as and when! in any case no way of sound proof from the above

U may want to wait until later in the year or 2021 to get any serious reno done.
Lot of delays currently still. My company doing some reno. Progress is quite slow.

One word.... Amazing !

I did my homework when looking for Reno contractor.

One of the contractor who came to my place to quote....  I did some research and found some not so good things about him on the web,  so I excluded him.

Usually ID is recommended by friends/colleagues who have engaged service with the ID before. Seldom would walk in to any ID on the street de.

haha so far, I think the number of pple who recommend their ID is 20%. The last 4-5 friends/family that have done their reno, don't recommend their own ID/contractor [laugh]

How come most people would not recommend their own ID to friends/family? I am also one of them, never recommend my ID to people i know. [:p]

Best is don't... If got problem,  becomes your problem.... And then strain relationship.

My own flat reno,  I just search online and then get a few quotes and then talk to the contractors and then finally settle on one.

I didn't know so many crooks doing ID.

I think I also should start an ID company

to compete head on with them.

I think I can do a lot lot better when you hear

all the bad things they have done.

Now have portal called homerenoguru, just find ID from there. 😂

Twincharged

Back on thread...

For those who installed vinyl tiles for their new homes, is it really necessary to do cement screeding before tiling?

Depends on how much floor is out of level.  But vinyl tiles straight on top of rough concrete wouldn't produce best especially after some year or so of wear.

Screeding is to ensure your existing tiles will flush properly with your parquet/vinyl.

For my new bto, I have opt out of the tiles from hdb. So the flooring will just be plain concrete upon taking over. Will "stock" flooring be not flat?
