Kb27 Supersonic April 21, 2014 Share April 21, 2014 How does the jump start power bank look like? Where can we get it? Thks! Jump start power pack depends on what's inside. If it's a 18AH sealed-lead-acid type of battery, don't expect it to last long. I've jump start it a few times, sure it works. After that, the battery goes dead. The reason is that this kind of battery is not built like a regular car lead-acid battery. It won't last long. Plenty of them around, example http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-J509-1000-Peak-Starter/dp/B003ZYS8UW/ ↡ Advertisement

Price is not cheap n moreover, there's always 24hrs battery mobile services or FOC help fr your car insurance companies if they do provide. I mean how often do we nid to use this thing unless u r 1 of those who always forgot to turn off headlights etc

Can buy 1 at Qoo10 but I m not the seller if u r going to ask me, just pointing u to the right direction. I m in fact helping a friend to sell Amaron batteries, do PM me if u need 1, prices r reasonable http://list.qoo10.sg/item/12000MAH-MULTI-FUNCTION-CAR-JUMP/414427459
Astralee 2nd Gear April 21, 2014 Share April 21, 2014 Yes, I think it will go flat after some time. But jus curious how the "new" batteries maintain their charge? Dun see them charging, but the battery can plug and use straight. Just like keeping spare tyre need to check and pump regularly, keeping a spare battery also needs to be charged regularly. :)

Dun see them charging, but the battery can plug and use straight. New batteries sitting on shelves will also self discharge at a slower rate. Suppliers have to charge their batteries regularly if the stocks are not moving within a certain period, normally within a couple of months. Charging is done behind the scene where you don't normally get to see it. If the batteries are not charged, the sulphation formed due to discharge, will hardened, reducing capacity and in worst case destroy the batteries. I had a couple of new UPS batteries which were not deployed and used. Kept in storage for 2 yrs and they become goo..need to be disposed of.
Johnnylim 5th Gear April 22, 2014 Share April 22, 2014 Is this good and accurate enough for checking the car battery health?
Kb27 Supersonic April 22, 2014 Share April 22, 2014 Is this good and accurate enough for checking the car battery health? Good for checking alternator voltage. It should be around 13.5 to 15V If you're checking battery voltage, engine not running, it should be around 12V depending on the state of charge. 100% charged battery will show 12.66V after waiting for surface charge to disappear. However, it would not be easy to check true battery voltage, since many things are using battery when that socket is switched on. So you won't see the true battery voltage, but much lower. Voltage alone does not indicate battery's health, just the state of charge. For better assessment of battery's health, you need to check cca.

The batteries once connected up to the system will be activated and ready for use. PS: Pl don't ask me to explain " dry charge" , first come t know of this process abut 20 yrs ago, up to date I am still in the dark as how the process work for flood and sealed batteries including gel type. Kb27 Supersonic April 22, 2014 Share April 22, 2014 Thks for always explaining technical stuffs which I would not have known You're welcome. Not just car lead-acid battery, but any battery, like your cellphone. If it takes a short time to charge the battery, say from 11v to 12.6V and it becomes "fully-charged", usually that battery does not have the capacity to store charge. A cca check would have showed a low number, which means the battery is no good already, even though it has full-charged at 12.6V. Any discharge would quickly dropped that voltage. Same as your cellphone lithium battery, if it takes a short time to fully-charge that battery, it means the reverse is also true, it takes a short time to discharge the battery, needing another charge. That battery is also bad which needs replacement.

Some move battery to back due to weight issue. Locating a battery away from hot engine compartment also prolong its life. Battery does not like heat. Battery is used primarily to start a car engine. It does not add any "power" to the ride. It's in the head. Once the engine is running, all the electrical power comes from the alternator, which is also tasked with recharging the battery at the same time. A Merc S class has a small starter battery in the engine compartment just to start engine. It has a much bigger battery in the rear to power other electronics. So, it shows you only need a small battery powerful enough to start the engine.

Fu11thr0tt1e Turbocharged April 22, 2014 Share April 22, 2014 Hi bro, u hv lobang for new cheap Amaron batt? Can share with me pls? Thnks actually anyone can check their battery health on their own. just google for method but basically, u use a volt meter, hook it on ur car battery after turn off ignition. Make sure u knows how to use a volt meter in the first place. If ur battery is in good health, the voltage be in between 12.4 to 12.7 volts. A reading lower than that means ur battery needs to be charged To check if ur alternator is working, start the engine n take the reading again. A functional charging system should produce between 13.5 to 14.5 or more volts while engine is idling. Voltage less than 13.5 volts means u need a new alternator. If still unsure, can PM me for more info. I can also share lobang to get Amaron batteries at reasonably low price with 1 year agent warranty.

To be exact, when engine at idle, it should be between 13.5 to 14.5, anything lower than 13.5 means alternator is not producing enough current to charge the battery, therefore battery will be flat over time When engine is not started, voltage reading should be between 12.4 to 12.7, anything lower than 12.4 means ur battery needs to charge, if after battery cannot hold charge n need to be changed

Not every car can upsize battery due to limited space at the battery compartment. Different batteries have different dimensions, if u insist to upsize battery, when u close the engine cover, the battery might damage the cover or even worst, the engine cover or battery if not insulated properly, might cause a short circuit to the car when the engine cover touches both positive n negative points of the battery ↡ Advertisement
