Hi All, my Exora CFE is about 14 months old now. But it had developed the following issues after the 1 year anniversary:

1) Screeching sound (metal grinding sound) when braking at low speed...

2) Today, I discover that water condensation happened in my driver side front lamp...

For issue 1, I reported to TTS when I send for my 20k servicing. They say no issue (actually I deduce they did not even try to troubleshoot as my Odometer did not register any mileage clocked since I send into the service centre). And they even remind me if want to change brake pad, must pay cuz it is just over the 1 yr mark. Say is wear and tear part... I know that but who need to change brake pads at 20k???

Went to another workshop an when the guy dismantled my brake pad, it is not worn out yet... told him to replace anyway but he couldn't get the parts even after 1 week of trying?!?!?

Do you think I can get the above issue addressed at a authorized service centre in Johor (e.g. Larkin)? And will the issues be covered as part of the 3 year warranty?

Pls advise... Thanks!

Finally decided to sell my Exora. 7 months of ownership had brought a lot of headaches hence decided to bite the bullet. On the whole the car isn't too bad but Proton has to improve on the quality of the parts.

The screeching sound may be from the brake cylinder (aka brake pump). It is more common in cars which has rear drum brakes. But usually such pump breakdown at higher mileage leh...? Also at 20K mileage, brake pads shouldn't be worn out that fast also leh? [confused]

You may check your car manual, or service agreement (with Proton) to know if you can proceed to a Johor authorized SC to resolve the problem under the current warrant terms.

Personally felt that CPS version underpowered and thus leading to high FC. Guess turbo charged engine for Exora is more suitable.

Hi Bro - I might been keen (turbo or non-turbo version) ? What is the issue you faced ?

Thanks.

Was driving a CPS Exora. It was the minor problems that cost the headaches, as they came in 'batches' leading to downtime. The problems I faced are as follow:

1) Screeching sound coming from the steering wheel. Proton Spore dignosed that the problem lies with the steering bracket. Took 1 day to fix - FOC.

2) Knocking sound when braking. Proton Spore dignosed that the brake caliper is the problem. Took 1 day to fix and cost $1030 as the brake pads have to be changed together with the calipers. The 2nd hand car dealer paid half of the cost.

3) Engine oil leaking in the engine bay due to worn out seals. It was only a 2.5 years old car with about 53,000 km mileage. 2nd hand car dealer took care of that. Half a day to fix.

4) Screeching fan belt. Found out that the belt was worn out. Again 2nd hand car dealer fixed that. Another half a day gone.

5) Engine fan not working. Proton Spore replaced it FOC. Took 0.5 day to fix.

In all, the problems were not serious but the down time as listed above caused me lots of inconvenience. [:|]

Ya that's why I commented that Proton could do more to control the quality of parts.

The turn around time to resolve an issue in TTS is too long as they need to bring in the Proton Service personal.

Usually whenever we inform any uncommon issues, they will have to wait for the Service personal who may not turn up on the same day.

I had a Jerking problem for my CFE (initially) for which had to leave the Car few times at TTS.

Finally got resolved when they done the Update of Softwares properly (2 times they done earlier seems like did not update properly).

Driving the CFE for more than 1.5 years. And so far no issues and enjoying the ride.

The problem is not from Proton but directly from their vendors and dishonest suppliers and only after CFE is develop that most parts are upgrade. What make people piss off is the attitudes of some svc ctr staff.Even the notorious iafm now come with better iafm+ material.Actually those driving saga blm/flx the knocking sound can be repaired.Drive by wire is another culprit thus the lag in acceleration compared to Jap cars but handling and mid torque is forgiven.Campro cars currant flow also aint so good compared to Jap or Conti cars but can be solved using copper ground cables, pedal and throttle respond.Ive already got 4 Sg owners doing the stuff without any wire cutting and theyre impressed with the results.2 Exora cps,1 Gen2 1.3 auto and 1 Neo Auto. All of them fit 5 ground cables and doing the respond things, throttle body cleaning and 1 Exora even do decarbonised. Not trying to boast here but so far no complains ajd even the underpowered gen2 1.3AT driver notice a change in accelerate,Better sound system, cooling aircon and brighter headlights.

By the way i saw a SKC Honda Jazz kena tow at Tampines1 cause owner say car totally cant start and start to make weird noise under the hood,Back then when i ride my bike from work saw a SKE BMW 318 also stall beside expressway with light smoke under the front bonnet....

Which year was your Exora manufactured. 2009 or 2010?

2010. It was registered in Nov. The plastic parts are darker grey instead of lighter grey found in earlier batches. I thought the quality should hv improved over the earlier batches but alas...
