Yes. I fed my son with Scotts's emulsion too. Not all fishes are rich in dha and epa though.

Yeah we don't have that many oily fishes around here.. And the taste is bit strong for the kids. But most sea dwelling fish is fine except seabass.

Still better to get nutrients from real food if possible IMO.

I dunno how these added stuff are derived. I always assumed it's some fish oil extract. Interesting.

Yeah just eat real fish and real fish oil.

Be careful of the claims...

Not that it's not effective...

Only afraid that it's really effective to the extent that brain's development follows input.

So be careful of what has been inputted or not inputted into child's brain.

How many know how to "input" into their child's brain?

GIGO, empty in empty out. Tao Nao Kang Kang...

Worse... dead brain's cells.

[laugh]

Nurture nurture nurture.

U probably get more mileage having a good healthy relationship with your wife and kids and judicious use of electronic devices when young.

1 tsp of Scott's emulsion probably contains more dha and Epa than your kids daily entire milk intake.

If u want to argue, why don't just feed your kid fish everyday instead?

One time I looked at Scott's Emulsion and wonder it's relatively cheap.

If I remember correctly, ithe active ingredient is only like 5%, the rest are just fillers and gum.

Now if you compare cod liver oil from iherb, it's like $30~$50

Creativity and smart has nothing to do with what kind of milk you drink but the kind of society and mentality link to it that stifles them in this environment.

Yeah that's the truth that YOU and I know. But many parents or people think otherwise.

I'm a parent too to a young toddler, and I got friends telling me this brand and that brand of milk formula is good and this and that.

It's all misconception, bro.

And no thanks to all the marketing claims and advertising by these milk companies

But bro, formula milk do hv DHA and EPA added into it.

These 2 elements are proven to aid the child's brain development.

What they put into milk formula could be synthetic in nature, not the natural form

Likewise for supplements that we take. Many of them are synthetic.

So be mindful of this. Examples of Vitamins and minerals come in natural or synthetic forms.

Obviously we know which one is the best for our body, don't we?

U want to feed yr kid synthetic stuff?

My kids take Nordic naturals too. I'm just giving a local comparison.

After reading all the comments i derived to a conclusion. The kids now are bigger and smarter all thanks to the nutrients fed by the parents in the form of baby formulas and all other 'beneficial' nutrients. Now they grow up gets bigger and smarter too fast......and then parents complain my child is becoming smarter amd bigger too fast...

Don't need all those la. My son never drank formula before. Fully on breastmilk till 1, then mixture of breastmilk and fresh milk up to 2 before he stopped drinking breastmilk. Never give him all those supplements or multi-vitamins. Still grow up as tall as his classmates and do decently in sports and academics.

Breast milk is the best!

Suitable for child and daddy. :D

Friend of mine works in a Formula Milk company. He, colleagues and his boss/es flies business class EVERY single time. And they fly at least once a month.

Don't ketok Singaporeans and Chinese how to fly Biz class? [laugh]

I also have a fried who work in a large MNC that also own a few brands of formula milk.

The cheapest one, has the price increased 2 years ago.

Reason being....

It had to be in line with the rest of the other competitors brand.

Too much lower than competition, consumer thought lack of something.

SINGAPORE: A new locally made brand of milk powder, costing less than S$40 a tin, was launched on Tuesday (May 30), amid public concern over the rising prices of formula milk.

The made-in-Singapore formula, Einmilk, is owned by local company AE Solution and manufactured here by SMC Nutrition.

Separately, supermarket chain FairPrice is exploring ways to bring in more formula milk products, as well as developing its own house-brand milk powder, a spokesman told Channel NewsAsia.

The developments come about a week after the Government formed a taskforce to address the rising prices of formula milk in Singapore.

LEVERAGING THE SINGAPORE BRAND

Einmilk business director Chan Yong Chye said that his company wants to leverage the Singapore brand and produce the item locally, which it hopes can soften price inflation.

He added there are also plans to export the product to other Southeast Asian countries within the next three years.

Einmilk costs between S$19 and S$22 for a 400g tin and between S$33 and S$39 for an 800g tin. There are four formulations for the different stages of a child’s development, including a lactose-free version.

The brand is currently available at U Stars supermarkets.

Mr Chan said that the supermarket chain was chosen because of its accessibility to Singaporeans. “Most of their stores are in the heartland area, where most of our Singapore consumers are residing in. So that puts us in a good position to be close to our customers,” he said.

He added that there are plans to expand sales to more local retailers in the coming months. “We are open for further discussion with all the key retailers. The most important thing is the Singaporean consumer actually buy the idea of a Singapore-made infant milk product. If this idea can be taken by the Singapore consumer, I think eventually we will have more points of sales for our Einmilk products.”

Einmilk is also available online on Shopify and Facebook.

Only its Stage 2 (six to 12 months), Stage 3 (toddlers and children from one year onwards) and lactose-free variants are sold online, because milk formula for infants from zero to six months is not allowed to be sold online under the Sale of Infant Foods Ethics Committee Singapore's code of ethics.

The company said its products are regulated for adherence to standards by the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) and the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP). It is also halal-certified by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore.

FAIRPRICE MULLS HOUSE-BRAND MILK POWDER

Separately, local supermarket chain FairPrice told Channel NewsAsia that it is exploring ways to bring in more choices of infant milk powder.

The chain said it is in discussions with authorities to expand sourcing options to provide better-value products to parents. “We are actively in contact with several suppliers based overseas and are making good progress, and are in the final stages of bringing in new milk powder products,” a FairPrice spokesperson told Channel NewsAsia.

“At the same time, we are also pursuing the viability of developing our own house-brand milk powder.”

The supermarket chain said it would give more details within the next fortnight.

"CHEAPER DOES NOT MEAN 'NOT AS GOOD'"

MP Rahayu Mahzam, a member of the Government's taskforce, said that it was "definitely important" to bring in more alternatives from reliable and safe sources, to allow for greater price competition.

Of the new Singapore-made formula brand, Mdm Rahayu said: "Given that it is a local product, there could be more confidence in the production, which is subject to the strict food regulations here.

"Also, the manufacturers should have better insight to local needs and nutrition."

She added that she hoped parents were open to new products that were potentially as good as existing ones. "Cheaper does not mean 'not as good'," she said.

"The hope is that parents will have more information on the nutritional needs of their children and can make informed decisions - without being swayed by labels and marketing tactics.”
