gavin440 Neutral Newbie February 28, 2017 Share February 28, 2017 Just got my first car a Honda civic turbo for about 3 months and already got a crack line, sales person told me is wear and tear telling me damage from plot hole or from very big stone. Didn't even got a chance to see how a normal wear out tyre should be like. ↡ Advertisement

Don't think should get such crack as yours unless you really crash into something bad but I would think your suspension will get more damaged than you tire in that case. Looks more like a tyre manufacturing defect - should get it changed for free as part of the car/tire warranty.

ShinySunita Clutched February 28, 2017 Share February 28, 2017 You need to change those tyres as soon as possible as the rubber of the tyre have worn out. In fact the traffic control may even fine you for those

(or likely because manufacturers prefer us to change it regularly hehe)

Is it necessary to change the tyre? Pls advice IMG_8162.jpg Not only does the tyre need to be changed (sidewall damage can't be patched), you also need to worry about other damage. What was the impact like? If it was anything more than a brush at parking speeds, your alignment is out at least. Your tie rods, control arms etc. will need to be checked after the car is hoisted up. It's also possible your wheel balancing weights got dislodged so you may need a rebalancing. I'm telling you this so you get it all done at once because doing it at one reputable workshop may save you a bit of money and worry.
