Just got my first car a Honda civic turbo for about 3 months and already got a crack line, sales person told me is wear and tear telling me damage from plot hole or from very big stone. Didn't even got a chance to see how a normal wear out tyre should be like.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=30 - should only get small surface cracks for wear and tear.

Don't think should get such crack as yours unless you really crash into something bad but I would think your suspension will get more damaged than you tire in that case.

Looks more like a tyre manufacturing defect - should get it changed for free as part of the car/tire warranty.

You may want to check the date code on the tyre as well as the date of manufacturer of your car to see if they tally.

it looks like hit sharp object, not product quality issue, AD definitely will not warranty, better change

is not Both wear and tear and defects

looking at it is likely kissed some sharp edges ,

by the way no need to wait, please go and replace the tire(best 1 Pair)

tires are the only contacts between you and road , Money can earn back

i thought it should be 40,000km or 2 yrs ? can stretch until 60k one ah ?

40k km is the guide lo....

the tyres will be hardened and the ride is not nice at all..noisy n bumpy!!!

50K km will be acceptable max....60K km i tried and it was painful exp lo...anw car was gg to be scrapped so just live wif it then! no more 60K km la....

ah icic, yea - agree that max is 50K; i generally change around the 40-45k mark for peace of mind

sometimes i have to wonder after so many years of technological innovation in automobile, tires seem to be stagnating in terms of how long we can use it. (or likely because manufacturers prefer us to change it regularly hehe)

New driver here... I just hit kerb and this is the current situation of my tyre. No air leakage yet.
What should I do with it? Is it necessary to change the tyre?

Pls advice  [:(]

sidewall damage. Yes, definitely have to change the tyre. There is risk of tyre explosion and losing control of your car.

Thank you for replying so fast! Can I still drive to the workshop or I need to call for roadside assistance already?

If shop nearby, just keep speed max 50km/h. If not comfortable change to spare tire first. This tire mounted in front or back?

Not only does the tyre need to be changed (sidewall damage can't be patched), you also need to worry about other damage.

What was the impact like? If it was anything more than a brush at parking speeds, your alignment is out at least. Your tie rods, control arms etc. will need to be checked after the car is hoisted up. It's also possible your wheel balancing weights got dislodged so you may need a rebalancing.

I'm telling you this so you get it all done at once because doing it at one reputable workshop may save you a bit of money and worry.
