Maseratigood 5th Gear December 22, 2013 Share December 22, 2013 Don't look right. Is that cop using his h/p to call his mother for advice? Thought most cops nowadays have their walkie-takie mic/speaker strapped at shoulder level? Do our cops need more funding to get their gear to 'world standards' ? Apology, if I see wrongly. maybe it was closing time for putting 4D bets? quickly call gf or lao buu to place the bet according to the number appeared anywhere near the samurai.... ↡ Advertisement

I think not every police carries a walkie takie set...think they share among the group, anyway the set is to communicate with ops room and the next group. so it is perfectly normal to use H/P to call the next guy if you doesnt have a walkie talkie....also H/P more tactical lah...walkie talkie everyone can hear. I was thinking of this..... but I am not in this field of work, so ur point is taken.

If calling on the hp can get his OC directly, why not? Ppl on the walkie talkie on the other end is just like a phone operator, he/she got to call on the officer in charge and connect him to the man on the ground. So troublesome, might as well call on hp directly. Anyway those walkie talkie are on open frenquency and not encrypted for security. Anyone with a receiver tuned in to police frequency can know what's happening much like in the movies. Using the frequencies also require to pay a lum sum to the service provider annually (nope, it's not free). It's more ex compared to paying hp bill that is on per usage basis. If they are not using it frequently, might as well use hp.

Yet, I have alittle doubt that using HP in that manner is in the books ...... wait till there is a public roadshow by the police, this will be a friendly question to them. Mrkopi 1st Gear December 23, 2013 Share December 23, 2013 The reception underground may not be as good if you use walkie talkie. Handphone always more reliable!

I think he is calling his commanders for advice, or orders to shoot the "samurai".... I don't think he's calling his mom lah... yes and "mother" is a repected term as well. sometimes "mother goose" is a code for the leader; then we have mother-ship; mother-board; and Sadam called the Gulf War - Mother of all battles. Still the question lingers ..... is it ok to use the HP in this situation. He is actually not "hands free" so to speak. As I said, if I chance upon a police roadshow, I'll pop the question. Or can someone give the "mother of all" answer. haha

Camrysfa Turbocharged December 23, 2013 Share December 23, 2013 (edited) just got junked anon..... ppl just don't understand the meaning of my questions. too bad. Hi Mod/Admin Granted my question has a slight cheeky tone, but the underlying reason is: whether it is a correct way for a Special Force Police to adopt. It is also asked in the context that they could be dealing in a terrorist situation. Holding that phone with 1-hand don't seem right. In my travels, I think I saw police in other cities equipped with shoulder strapped WT. Note - even hand-held WT obstructs their duities. 2 persons have gave me some views but i still have some lingering doubts. A third person chose to use the Junk button & left the comment "walkies don't work underground". He may be right, but is this the way to use the Junk option? I think he should use a normal reply and maybe provide a link which supports his view. Hope that such one way judgmental use of the Junk option can be looked into. In the meantime, I withdraw my question rgd the cop ..... I will find out through other means. and it is not a priority on my list at all. Merry Xmas. Baal Supersonic December 24, 2013 Share December 24, 2013 Shy? Perhaps they aren't as outspoken as you.... I find that naming the tab junk over disagree was not coincidental. Taken into context of who owns, recent speeches,....talking about the term RAVI , most recent talk about going into cyber, social media to debunk half truths, partial truths......(eyes roll) Hence, mo is that the choice of word (junk) & angry responses of those who were junked anony, was also not an unintended effect.... ↡ Advertisement
