Did you have a claim last year to invoke your ncd protector? If not, I can easily give a better premium with similar cover. You can contact me via my signature and I will do a quote for you within the day.

I think you can get better prices especially with your 50% ncd, for similar coverage.

Past 2 yrs I have gone through insurance brokers and they have gotten me better prices for similar comprehensive package.

I was insured by AXA, then moved to China Taiping. Both arranged by brokers.

8yr Merc A150 was covered for $900 (30% NCD, clean record, max discounts) & now brand new car now covered for $1200 (40% NCD).

My last broker is very responsive & clear in communications. I had a lot of questions bcos of a new car & she was able to answer clearly & promptly. PM me if you would like her contact.

Hi,

Need some advice from the expert here,

For example, my next insurance renewal is on 1st June 2016 , my ncd will be 50%. However, my car will hit 10 year then and I will need to scrap and change to a new car.

so for the new car's insurance, is there any rule that indicate how far early or later from 1st June 2016 that I will still be entilted to 50% NCD?

I faced the same situation recently.

Going by the terms of the insurance, if you terminate at any point in time, existing insurer would not extend 50% NCD for your new car. However, if your new policy starts close to 1 Jun 16, then you can ask the insurer for an exception. If you staying with same insurer, chances would be higher.

For my case, I chosed to stay with same insurer who agreed to upping my NCD & new policy for new car started about 20 days before expiry of existing policy.

Hard to go back to the existing insurance company due to the in house loan and insurance discount offers by the AD.

So I have to plan properly to make sure that i scrape my car on 31st of May and get my new car on the 1st June.

Anyone hear of insurance companies honour the next increase in ncd if get the car 1 month earlier or 1 month later with respect to the insurance expiry date?

Generally, u can transfer ncd from one car to another. But if plan to scrap ur old car later, then ur insurance for ur new car will not be given any ncd. After scrap old car then u can transfer d ncd to ur new car.

Alternatively, u can straightaway transfer d ncd from old car to new car n pay remaining period for d old car without ncd. Do check with insurer whether got any admin charge.

Most insurers will allow d ncd to be retained for 24 months after scrapping but some insurers only allow 12 months. So, it's best check with insurers before u purchase.
