We should have campaigns to education people about water saving, just like current Dengue campaign that is ongoing now.

I think they did with the "Ah Gong and Grandson" commercial showing on TV...

If all the surface drains are connected to reservoirs, then high usage of water does not equate to wasting water. Letting fresh waste water draining out to sea is really the definition of waste. It's good that  large areas flow into dammed up rivers. I am puzzled why Siglap canal and Pasir Ris (Sungei Api) have not been blocked off.

Ideally all the canals should be linked up and have water aerators to move the water in 1 direction like a big lazy river. We don't have mountains to move water, but doesn't mean we can't create the same effect using technology.

AFAIK, both Siglap and Sungei Api river/canal are not linked to any catchment areas. This is unlike others such as Rochor canal or Singapore river which are linked to a reservoir.

I guess it all depends of location, geography and surrounding developments  for the drainage design to act as either a catchment or as flood control system.

Prof Biswas said he and his wife are "seriously considering" becoming Singapore permanent residents, as both love the working environment at NUS - where they are academics - and the "quality and intelligence" of the Republic's politicians and civil servants.

Score points liao. Now getting ready to receive their expedited pink ic.

talking about water price, our water (bottled water) price here is damn ex.

cheapest bottled water is $1/L.

oil price is us$40/barrel or sg 35 cents/L.

more ex than oil!

Two weeks I was quoted with 0.39 per litre Diesel. Yesterday ip to 0.4 lah. Definitely cheaper than distilled water.

Where u get petrol so cheap ? Which petrol station?

I doubt he got the price from petrol station. He is either in marine or transport industry.

Water levels in Linggiu Reservoir hit new low

20160413-pub-reservoir.jpg

The reservoir is just over one-third full. Last October, water levels in the reservoir already reached a low of 41 per cent, but they have fallen some more to 36.9 per cent. These levels are far below the 80 per cent that the reservoir in Malaysia had at the start of last year.

guys, better reuse washing machine water deep deep!

During my afternoon run at park connector along the Serangoon reserviour, the water level always look stable even though Seng Kang and Punggol had the lowest rain fall in March. Our New Water really make some magic....

I heard the news yesterday saying 70% of the water use is by industries. Why us 30% must suffer and not the 70% cut down on their use of water? [hur]
