The monthly quota of COEs for May to July has been released by LTA; compared to the February to April bidding exercises, there will be a 41% rise in available COEs for Cat A (cars up to 1,600cc/97kW), 37.8% for Cat B (cars above to 1,600cc/97kW), 46.9% for Cat C (goods vehicles and buses), 53% for Cat E (open). Slight dip of 4.6% in available COEs for Cat D (motorcycles). Story to come.

The 18 level hell, do they carry out the same punishment daily? Take the oil fried for example, how can one scare of being fried everyday, is it not easy to "get used to it"?

Many many years ago when I was a teenager, my classmate wanted to find a faith as he felt lost. He was a freethinker then. So he went to visit all the different places of worship, even a mosque.

 

This was what he told me then

1. Muslim - a lot of restrictions. Cannot eat pork. Cannot drink. Got fasting. Friday always need to go praying. circumcision. And he being a Chinese if become Muslim will have a lot of issues at home

2. Buddhism - a lot of praying, chanting. Monks have to be celibate. Best to be vegetarian, which he did not like. And people there always like praying so that they will not come to harm.

3. Christian - no restrictions on food. Have to wake up early on Sunday go Church, though not compulsory. More fun and celebration and sharing of love.

 

It was between Buddhism and Christianity mainly. Christianity he felt was easier to live with, and knowing how much you have sinned, as long as you are believer, you will be forgiven and go Heaven. Buddhism punishes more than reward. and he feels like God is doing things for him, while in Buddhism you are doing things (to accumulate good karma). So put it this way, imagine you are a kid and there are 2 teachers. 1 gives u an icecream when you complete your homework (or helps you do your homework), while the other makes u stay for detention if you do not complete. Who do you think the kid likes?

 

Just to be clear, I'm a free thinker. This is just an experience sharing, not to go into religious mocking or debate. Pls dun stomp or flame me

I don't know. I'm a Christian and only believe in Christianity .

虎豹别墅上个月推出免费导览活动，短短两个周末的参观者高达1万3000人次。新加坡旅游局已展开修复虎豹别墅的咨询工作，确保在赋予虎豹别墅新面貌的同时，也保留它的历史和文化意义。

为配合新加坡旅游局庆祝推广旅游业50周年的“旅游庆50”（Tourism50）活动，虎豹别墅于上个月15日、16日、22日及23日为游人提供免费导览，吸引许多本地人参观。

他们多数是全家大小一起出游，通过导览介绍认识虎豹别墅的历史和胡氏家族的故事，以及雕像所要讲述的民间传说和华族传统价值观。

公众对免费导览团反应热烈，园内的跳蚤市场、短剧与杂技表演等也大获好评。

近年来，每年到访虎豹别墅的游人仅介于15万至20万人，但从上个月的公众反应来看，旅游局重振虎豹别墅的努力初见成效。

新加坡旅游局旅游体验发展署助理局长欧燕媚昨天在“旅游庆50”第二系列活动的推介活动上受访时指出，园内现有一名工匠负责油漆维护塑像，当局计划多聘请几名工匠，甚至是华族文化专家，修缮园内塑像。

此外，公园也将举办各项活动让游人有个更愉快的体验，园内的参观路线也得经过妥善规划，游人才能玩得尽兴。

旅游局也考虑在园内举办晚间活动或展览，改善灯光设施等。如何以生动有趣的方式讲述园内塑像的故事，也是旅游局的关注要点之一。

她说：“最重要的是，胡氏兄弟对我国贡献巨大，我们必须以尊敬的态度讲述他们的故事，并真实反映他们当年建造并开放别墅的用意。”

Its a good comparison of sorts.

The only key difference is No. 3 is a relationship and not just a religion. The believers are saved by grace of God and not by good works.

Good works are the fruits of the grace you received from God, which becomes naturally aspirated in car forum terms.

Why is a Buddhist commenting on a Taoist practice?

I'm not religious, but surely they have no authority to comment.

 

Historically many offerings were offered to the dead in many ancient religions.

The Egyptians, Mayans, and lets not forget about the terracotta warriors.

What evidence does the site have to prove the "original" intent?

Whether Is any 神佛不分 or 三教同源 is debatable.

But through the history of Chinese dynasties, there are cross pollination between ideologies, religions as evidenced in folklore or influenced by the thoughts and whims of the rulers (i.e. 政教不分)

 

But taoism (as a philosophy) or taoist practice (in a secular sense that unites a society within a small finite geographical region) can be based on very different basis or understanding.

 

I am no expert, but just a thought.

Maybe they get a break from being fried on Sunday and get disemboweled instead, so that Monday's frying will feel more terrible.

Assuming every being has to go somewhere after this life, then personally my preference is not based on whether it is heaven or hell or some place else. I just want to be where my loved ones go (again going back the assumption that they will also go somewhere). Otherwise, so what if it is heaven, I think will be miserable.

Hell with loved ones is so much better than heaven with fairies.
