COE - May 2014

If there is a such a group of 10% of Singaporean that will keep COE high, why there was a case that COE drop to $2 and hundreds in the past?

You may say Singapore demographics has changed, agree on this. But human being human, who will want to buy high when you can buy low....

Some people will believe that they are getting a good deal ... cos they are getting a car with a higher COE and they will top up.

almost 59k liao ... let me guess .... 70k this month ... LPPL.

judging frm the coe rebate level of main Cat A agts, i reckon:

a) it shld go up at a slower pace now as this is the region where these agts will bid at.

b) it shldnt go beyond 65k. more likely ends at low 60's k.

r u a car sales person? if not, y would u (as a buyer) so willingly to let the agt to earn "extra" or "additional" profit that u mentioned?

if buyers self-bid, the agt would only hv "fixed" profit n thus buyers pay less.

if 1 agt put high "fixed" profit, then buyers has option to go to another agt who offers more attractively.

HUH? When did I say I am "willing" to let them earn. I was merely explaining that the previous post which stated that "AD have a conflict of interest when bidding COE on behalf of customers" was not true. And that in fact with lower COE, AD earns more. Meaning there is no conflict of interest as both customer and AD want COE to be low.

I have nothing against self bidding. In fact if you want, you still can. And after obtaining your COE you can also import your car yourself thus preventing the AD from getting a single cent of your money. But of course it means you have to make some effort yourself bringing the car in and after that bear any risk of any problems yourself. But for some, they rather bypass all this trouble and let someone do it for them. That person (i.e. the AD) is entitled to compensation. Just like some people clean their house themselves (save money, incur effort) while others hire a maid (lose money, save effort).

And no, of course I am not a car sales person

This "small group" is enough to consume all the COE quota.

My small group is refer to 10% of SG population. Do your Maths and you will understand.

Nah....don't need to do math. If you are right so be it. But I really doubt it. Look around all the new Altis/Mazda 3/Forte and other B&B cars around. If only the top 10% of SG ppl are buying new cars, you won't be seeing so many new B&B cars on the road. Cos the top 10% ppl will be buying the luxury cars. And I also see new cars popping up in my HDB estate. I don't think top 10% of sg population stay in HDB estate. So definitely there are "normal" singaporeans buying new cars - not just the top 10%.

$60k LIAO LOH.

$63K and climbing....

Dealers hoot Cat A first to test water, then based on Cat A results, put the bids in B. So straight away put 65K. Lol....

Disappointing. I thot judging by the lack of movement, there is a chance for another drop today for CAT B but seems it will also increase like CAT A.
