COE - May 2014

True but it can high until you get asked to top up.....or worse have your deposit returned to you with zero car....higher paper value only if you scrap your car and difference is not night and day - every $10K increase in COE you only get $1k more scrap value for the COE portion per year but that $10K increase enough for you to not able to get your car. The most recent COE exercise increase by about $6k and ppl already saying SEs calling them to top up. As for resale/trade in value, it is mostly based on the prevailing price of new car at that time. Ur COE more or less by a few thousand won't make any difference...

I don't know, but for me, once I sign the form, I hope COE don't shoot up...

i don't know, but for me, saving a few thousands r a lot of $ to me...

rubbish, obviously u hv not tried b4 n didnt know how it works.

ATM can do both 1st bid n revision. revision also can b done via internet.

teach u my secret: do 1st bid via ATM on day 1. sit in air-con room to do revision on day 3.

bidding via ATM is as easy as withdrawing $ or topping-up cashcard at ATM.

Then they should just allow to do first bid thru internet.

I think you missing the point of the discussion/suggestion.

My original post was how we going to implement if we just allow self-bid and bar ADs from bidding. Your suggestion is to use ATM so as to differentiate self from ADs.

Hence, my point was that if you allow ATM only, it would be very inconvenient should self want to do a revison cos have to go down to the ATM again to do the revision.

Now you say can allow revision thru internet, so what is what?

If can allow revison thru internet then aren't we back to square one cos the ADs can then takeover after we self bid thru the ATM.

BTW, I've bid b4 thru ATM so I'm aware of the procedures.

AD has access to an internet service to do 1st bid. most likely is a special one that allows them to bid for multiple buyers at 1 go (instead of 1 by 1). i m saying to remove this access frm AD will solve your concern.

in order for AD to bid on behalf, buyers would need to sign a consent form now. if buyer self-bid, then no need to sign this form lor.

revision via internet is already there for those self-bid (1st bid via ATM) to make revision. i m not suggesting to introduce it. it's already there.

We self bid thru ATM, pass the ref no. to AD to do revision as many times as they want thru internet, so aren't we back to square one as in AD still involved with the COE bid which is the whole point of this discussion isn't it ie to bar ADs from bidding.

The only way I can think of, if using ATM is the suggestion; that prevents AD from getting involved is only self allowed to do the 1st bid and subsequent revision thru ATM only (cos obviously we won't pass our PIN no. to AD) but as I mentioned it's inconvenient right? cos have to make trips down to the ATM.

I'm fully aware that the current system allows us to bid ATM and revise thru internet but we not talking about current way but how we want to prevent ADs from bidding!

Actually $60K for CAT A and $70K for CAT B are still considered expensive. When bought my car 10 years ago with $70K, now only get an invisible COE, not even the car....

10 years ago you need to work to a certain position to earn 5-6k a month..nowdays seems every manager already earning that amount. with wife earning the same amount over 10k a month!!!!!! and many of these couples with no kids....i also dont know where to spend the $$$.

If cars is only 70k, these guys will be driving BMWs and Mercs already (which they are doing now anyway)

If only $10k per month better drive secondhand 7yr old BMW.

Dont stretch too thin.

Seems like COE CAT A went up this round, the discussion on COE has died down....

So any 1 been to showroom lately? Any crowd?

What is the bet? COE up or down next round?

Went showroom today...seems very minimal people going there..

SE say its due to school holidays & rain woh...hmmm...

Worst for VW, hardly see any besides me...guess the write out on yesterday's ST impact a lot..

My guess is that the COE will retain as there r lots of orders collected prior to the last bidding...

Hi guys, just registered and this is my first post! :D

I've been reading this forum for the past few weeks as I'm finally planning on replacing my 9-yr old Mazda 6.

To respond to the earlier post, I was down at the Ubi Nissan and Toyota showrooms Saturday morning. Test drove the Teana and Camry, both 2.5L. Neither showroom was particularly busy...

Showrooms are like dead town nowadays, you can bring your skate board to play there. Looks like the recent increase in CAT A COE is not sustainable [shakehead]
